Responsibilities
Analyzing lab testing is pretty complex. We depend on the knowledge and skills of our lab team when it comes to evaluating medical lab tests to determine what’s happening with our patients. As a Pathology Assistant, you'll provide support for the delivery of pathology services. They are vital to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. What you’ll do:
- Perform high complexity testing under the direction of a pathologist
- Assures appropriate specimen accessioning and obtains clinical history in order to ensure accurate testing
- Handles all tissue and specimens in accordance with policies and procedures
- Troubleshoots problems with procedures, quality control and instruments
- Other duties as assisgned
Qualifications
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or med technology
- Successful completion of NAACLS accredited Pathologist Assistant program preferred
- PA (ASCP) preferred
- Knowledge of human anatomy, macrosurgical techniques, med terminology, and general laboratory skills
