Designs prepares/types, and edits various documents on computer, such as correspondence, reports, marketing documents, such as Making a Difference day, newsletters and programs. Works with other clerical personnel in printing, proofreading, copying, collating, stapling, and mailing documents.

Maintains the office social media platforms including posting new information, schedules, and files as indicated by Extension Educators.

Monitors website and removes outdated information as needed. Develops and implements a long-term communication plan by updating social media/website posts, links, and content.

Develops event promotional materials, including flyers, posters, videos, and informational mailings as needed to promote future educational events, training sessions, meetings, and other Extension Office events.

Develops Online (web based) Programming in collaboration with staff for programs such as Ag Days, Sewing Seminar etc.

Assists in maintaining 4-H Fair Exhibit database.

Assists with Extension programs/events where needed.

Performs related duties as assigned.

I. JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Associate or bachelor's degree in Communications or related field preferred. High School diploma and experience in social media platforms, outlets, website, and communication plans preferred.

Knowledge in designs of Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, Infograms, Adobe Acrobat and current design mediums.

Working knowledge of department policies and procedures, and ability to apply such knowledge to a variety of interrelated tasks.

Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and ability to prepare communications documents and detailed reports as required.

Ability to type with speed and accuracy and properly operate a variety of standard office equipment, including computer, printer, telephone, postage meter, fax machine, copier, and calculator.

Ability to comply with all employer/department personnel policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct.

Ability to provide public access to or maintain confidentiality of department information/records according to state requirements.

Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other County departments, other Extension departments, Purdue University personnel, Extension Homemakers, 4-H leaders/volunteers/participants, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities, and disabilities.

Ability to work on several tasks at the same time, often under time pressure, and complete assignments effectively amidst frequent distractions and interruptions.

Ability to work alone and with others in a team environment, and maintain appropriate, respectful interrelationships with co-workers.

Ability to competently serve the public with diplomacy and respect, including occasional encounters with irate/hostile persons.

Ability to occasionally work extended, weekend and/or evening hours and occasionally travel out of town for training.

II. DIFFICULTY OF WORK:

Incumbent's duties are broad in scope and of substantial intricacy, involving many variables and considerations. Incumbent performs according to department and Purdue University guidelines and general objectives, exercising independent judgment in ensuring accuracy of information to meet specific needs.

III. RESPONSIBILITY:

Incumbent applies standardized/accepted practice in researching and presenting information and programs to individuals and groups. Incumbent receives general supervision and discusses unusual or unprecedented situations with supervisor as needed. Incumbent's work is primarily reviewed for attainment of objectives, and effect on department goals and objectives.

Incumbent performs standard, recurring duties according to department policies and procedures. Incumbent receives indirect or occasional supervision, with priorities determined primarily by service needs of the public. Errors in incumbent's work are usually prevented through prior instructions from supervisor, procedural safeguards, and proofreading. Undetected errors may result in loss of time for correction, loss of money to department, and/or inconvenience to the public.

IV. PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:

Incumbent communicates frequently with co-workers, Purdue University personnel, other Extension departments, related government agencies, Extension Homemakers, , Purdue University personnel, 4-H leaders/volunteers/participants, and the public, for purposes of exchanging and explaining information, coordinating, and presenting programs.

Incumbent reports directly to Director/Extension Educator.

V. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Incumbent performs a majority of duties in a standard office environment, and regularly at event/ training sites, which may involve sitting for long periods, sitting and walking at will, pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying objects weighing over 50 pounds, keyboarding, speaking clearly, hearing communication, close vision, and handling/grasping objects. Incumbent regularly works extended hours, occasionally works weekend and/or evening hours, and occasionally travels out of town for meetings and training, sometimes overnight.
