Glacier National Park was established in 1910 and stands today as a monument to wild natural places. As part of the Crown of the Continent ecosystem, the park includes 175 named mountains, 762 lakes (131 named lakes), 200+ named waterfalls and 26 named glaciers, as well as 1,000 plant species, and hundreds of animal species. Employees can explore the park’s 745 miles of hiking trails, take a bus tour on Going-to-the-Sun Road, or kayak in clear lakes.

Just West of Glacier National Park lies a collection of small communities who proudly welcome millions of visitors each year to the Glacier Gateway area. One of the largest towns is Columbia Falls. This lively Montana town is home to many locally owned shops, restaurants, a brewery, and a summer farmers markets! Columbia Falls is the ideal home base for recreating in Glacier National Park, and the 2.4 million acre Flathead National Forest.
The Details:
- Seasonal positions start in early-April and extend through early-October 2023

Location: Based out of Administrative Office in Columbia Falls, MT

Pay Rate: $19.90/hour

Schedule Varies: Average 40+ hours/week (depending on time of season)

Responsibilities:
- Support role to Parkwide Carpenter with the planning, scheduling and implementing the workload.
- Assist with installation, repair and upkeep at all property locations.
- Clean work areas, machines, or equipment to maintain a clean and safe work site.
- Follow OSHA and Xanterra’s environmental practices, safety practices, and policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
- Minimum of 1 year general maintenance and/or carpentry experience.
- Knowledge of historic structures and preservation.
- Must possess a current and valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Our candidate must have the ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to walk distances over uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders in all types of weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift and carry a maximum of 50 pounds. Frequent lifting and carrying of supplies, materials, and equipment throughout the day.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, reach, kneel, and crawl for extended periods of time.
- Working safely with required chemicals, tools, and equipment.
- Required to drive a company vehicle; a driving record check will be completed as part of the standard pre-employment background check.
