Our Church

St Gilbert is a large, energetic Catholic parish in Grayslake, a community of around 20,000 people situated in central

Lake County, Illinois. We’re committed to inspiring worship, and the Gilbertine values of life-long faith formation, fellowship, community service, and to working together with brother and sister Christians in witnessing the Gospel of Christ. Music is central to our common life and our worship draws on a wide variety of musical expressions, including traditional and modern European, contemporary American and gospel, along with music from around the global church.

We prioritize use of the latest and best available congregational song books and other resources to encourage participation by the whole assembly. Our primary instruments in worship are a two-manual Rodgers organ and a late-model Steinway and Sons grand piano. We also own a large and varied percussion collection, and enjoy using all these instruments regularly. St Gilbert is a community rich with musical talent, which offers exciting opportunities for collaboration, mentoring and growth. In all we do, we seek to mirror the love, openness and hospitality taught and modeled by Jesus.
