Under the direction of the Rectors and Vestry, the role of the Parish Administrator is to implement the policies and goals of the parish. The Parish Administrator is a steward of all the gifts God has entrusted to the parish, including the financial, personnel, administrative and physical resources. The Parish Administrator’s life and vocation should embody Christian faith, principles and values.

Reports to: Rector, and in the absence of the Rector, to the Associate Rector

Annual Review: Rector or Associate Rector

Paid Position: Full time

Specific Responsibilities of this Position

  • Oversee the management of all official records and files of the congregation, including recording and maintaining accurate up-to-date records of membership
  • Help prepare an Annual Report and other reports, newsletters and mailings to the diocese and for the congregation
  • Maintain security of records, files, credit cards and key files
  • Act as the purchasing agent for supplies and office equipment for the parish
  • Coordinate and supervise the daily work of the Sexton and volunteers.
  • Oversee the coordination of daily functions of the congregation: maintain the church calendar; schedule events including space allocation and reservations for those events
  • Organize special events, as assigned
  • Create, update and maintain an office policy and procedures manual (subject to review and approval of the Vestry)
  • Maintain accurate up-to-date personnel files on parish employees, including criminal background checks, abuse prevention seminar certificates and vacation, leave and sick days of the Sexton
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date files on licensure and training of laity
  • Responsible for the annual review and evaluation of the Sexton
  • Establish and accurately manage a responsible system for handling of all invoices and receipts

Qualifications

  • Two years of college or technical degree in the field and a minimum of 1 year business/administrative experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to be a collaborator, team leader and supervisor
  • Knowledge of basic financial management principles and practices
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate tasks
  • Ability to be flexible
  • Knowledge and ability to efficiently utilize computer systems, software, and office equipment
  • Ability to easily navigate social media

Salary: Based on skills and experience. Health insurance and pension available.

Start date: Immediately
