Working Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary: GS12: $89,834.00 - 116,788.00

GS13: $106,823.00 - $138,868.00

Full Performance level: GS13

Mission Statement:

The mission of the FBI is to protect the American People and uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Major Duties:

  • Reviews administrative forfeiture files for legal sufficiency and make recommendations to LFU team leaders
  • Assist team with administrative duties including entering data into DOJ’s Consolidated Asset Tracking System (CATS)
  • Ensures accurate responses to outside Departments or agencies are sent in a timely manner.
  • Monitors and sets ticklers to meet deadlines on cases assigned to them.
  • Reviews petitions for remission and make recommendations to LFU team leaders on how to rule on those petitions.
  • Perform legal research and writing as required.
  • Revises and updates LFU SharePoint and FBINET websites.
  • Tracks and shares legal guidance within and outside the unit, as required.
  • Prepares and presents findings orally and in writing to various audiences.
  • Efficiently uses Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, and Power Point) to gather, access and present data.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Specialized Experience (SE):

GS12: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS11 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

  • Experience coordinating work with other federal agencies of state and local jurisdiction on a variety of issues.
  • Evaluating documents, statistical data, reports and cases for legal matters.
  • Monitoring case decisions and advising other Paralegal Specialist or professional staff on problems, findings, or documentation requirements of case development.

In addition to the above specialized experience:

GS13: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS12 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

  • Writing complex legal matters and preparing legal documents/reports and cases; explaining legal principles; assisting in case preparation; collecting evidence and requesting additional information.

Education

All degrees must be from an accredited college or university. Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

GS-11: Applicant must have a Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related.
