Summary of Job Duties:
- Travels to and gains access to various County buildings to paint, interior and exterior surfaces of County buildings, structures and furnishings; utilizes brushes, sprayers, mixers and other tools to perform required duties and responsibilities; applies paint to walls, ceilings, furniture, signs, pavement markings and other surfaces; cooperates with other trade personnel regarding new construction, renovation and building maintenance
- Prepares working surfaces and area by removing loose paint, cleaning surfaces, applying spot patching, etc.; repairs cracks and holes; masks furniture; removes drapes and other items to avoid damage; places drop cloths on fixtures and floor; erects ladders and scaffolding, mixes paint, etc.
- Stains and varnishes furniture, sands surface to prepare for finishing
- Cleans tools, equipment and work area following completion of assigned project.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs duties of co-workers as required or assigned

equirements:
- Two (2) years apprentice experience in painting field and/or equivalent work experience which demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of painting methods ability to perform physical labor and a demonstrable skill in painting
- Valid driver’s license issued by the state of residency.
- Required to participate in and adhere to all compulsory safety training and safety procedures provided by the County
Hazardous Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods of standing, often from scaffolding and ladders; climbing, bending, and kneeling, and stretching; must have good stamina due to work with arms raised overhead; may work outdoors and be subject to variable weather conditions, such as hot weather; may be exposed to heights and uncomfortable positions; or work suspended with ropes or cables. Lift up to 50 lbs without material handling device. Ability to use and wear personal protective equipment: half-face respirators/dust mask, safety glasses, face shields, body harness for fall protection, earplugs/muffs and hand protection.
Position Specific Qualifications
- Meet maximum weight requirements for ladders, personal fall protection equipment, and aerial lifts. Maximum lbs. include man and tools. Type 1A “Extra Heavy Duty Industrial Ladder” – maximum capacity of 300 lbs. Type 1AA “Special Duty Industrial Ladder” – maximum capacity of 375 lbs. Most personnel fall arrest equipment (full-body harness & lanyards) is labeled with a capacity limit of 310 lbs. Single Man Lifts – 300-350 lbs.
