STARTING SALARY: $18.54 - $23.47 per hour + Benefits

JOB STATUS: Full-Time, 40 hours per week

LOCATION: Worthington

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Outreach Worker is responsible for UCAP clients with initial inquiries about the Agency, community program, and services that are offered. Responsible for initiating and conducting recruitment activities as well as ensuring that each participant is fully aware of the policies and procedures of the agency services, while maintaining all accurate documentation. They are to be an active participant within the community attending trainings, meetings, and activities.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
  • Maintain a current working understanding of all UCAP programs and guidelines.
  • Conduct initial interview with applicants, either in person or over the telephone, gathering information about the applicant’s current situation and needs.
  • Determine, make, and document appropriate referrals to other programs and agencies.
  • Provide advocacy with other resources on behalf of clients with other agencies.
  • Distribute and maintain Agency and Program brochures to community businesses, Agencies, and other resources.
  • Provide participants with effective intake for agency services, following established procedures.
  • Provide clear information to participants about Agency and Community resources.
  • Establish and maintain effective referral network and community linkages.
  • Attend conferences, meetings, trainings, and facilitate Agency trainings as needed or requested.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Two (2) years post-secondary education in human services and three (3) years’ work experience in a human service field or a combination of five (5) years education and/or experience.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish and English) preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Demonstrated effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Awareness of economic and cultural issues facing our constituents.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated skills in problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to travel in UCAP Service area regularly.
  • Ability to travel out of the service area for meetings, workshops, and conferences.
  • Reliable mode of transportation.
  • Completion of satisfactory Background Study.
