Join one of the leading plastic surgery teams in the Greater Sacramento area located in the one and only Medical Plaza! At The Plastic Surgery Center, we focus on providing our patients with an array of surgical and cosmetic options that will help optimize their quality of life. This full-time position is five days a week with room for schedule flexibility. (The best part about it is you don’t have to work weekends, holidays, or night shifts because we believe everyone needs a healthy work/life balance!)

We are looking for an RN who can confidently work independently and dependently in a fast-paced environment and displays strong multi-tasking skills with a strong attention to detail. This person is naturally friendly, provides a consistent and polished positive patient experience, and brings a “can do” attitude to our team!

A day in the life of an Outpatient Surgery Registered Nurse:

As an Outpatient Surgery Registered Nurse your main stomping grounds will be in our Pre-operative, Operating Room, and Recovery Room areas. You’re responsible for delivering direct patient care, pre-op evaluation with IV starts, sedating patients for surgery, OR circulation and recovery, and are accountable for all phases of nursing care for our patients. In addition, you will maintain the recovery room, operating room, and medical supply room. The medical supply room involves proper stock, inventory, and equipment cart checks and logs. All services and treatments will be performed following established treatment protocols, the scope of practice, organizational policies and procedures, and all other governing standards.

Outpatient Surgery Registered Nurse responsibilities:

· Maintain quality patient care and patient education, following written policies and standards of care.

· Provide critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the need for minimal supervision.

· Exhibit proficiency with ACLS.

· Provide IV placement and Foley Catheter placement.

· Assist anesthesiologist, surgical technician, and surgeon as needed.

· Assist in escorting, moving, and positioning the patient.

· Assist with nursing recovery care to a point of safe patient discharge.

· Assist with equipment as necessary.

· Maintain strict infection control.

· Provide and maintain complete peri-operative charting.

· Educate patient and family regarding surgery recovery and post-operative care.

· Ensure adherence to The Plastic Surgery Center policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

· Maintain clinical skills and knowledge.

· Problem-solve independently seeking assistance appropriately.

· Maintain an adequate inventory of drugs and medical supplies in the pre-operative and recovery areas.

· Maintain a collegial relationship with physicians to ensure quality patient care.

· Develop and monitor standards of care.

· Participate in and monitor quality improvement programs.

· Foster a positive environment that promotes staff development and loyalty to the practice.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

What qualifies you?

  • Active RN license in the state of California, must be in good standing.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Conscious sedation certification within 1 month of hire.
  • 2 years of critical care experience.
  • Warm bedside manner.
  • Competence in oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to complete detailed paperwork in a timely fashion.
  • Exceptional teamwork skills.
  • Always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.

Physical Requirements:

· Concentration on moderate to fine details for extended periods of time with irregular telephone and other interruptions.

· Engaging in frequent verbal and written communication using acceptable medical terminology.

· Must be able to function in an environment where background noises are a usual and frequent occurrence.

· Ability to remember schedules and tasks to be completed, and resume activities where you left off, etc.

· Intermittent physical mobility/activity including walking, standing, sitting, light lifting, pulling, and pushing of carts, equipment, etc.

· Must be able to bend body downward at the waist; be able to kneel.
