Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent and completion of two years of college-level course work (approximately 60 semester hours); or any equivalent combination of related training and experience. Must satisfactorily complete local, state and national criminal history and fingerprint checks.

Must successfully obtain the FDLE Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Certification within 6 months of employment or upon assignment which requires access to the Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC). Certification must be maintained as a condition of employment; re-certification required every two years. This is a Level One certification.

Position Summary

This is para-professional work, assisting professional counselors in a residential substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation facility under the direction and responsibility of the Alachua County Department of Court Services.

An employee assigned to this classification is responsible for maintaining accurate records on residents and documenting any difficulties encountered in dealing with clients.

Work is performed under the direction of a higher level supervisor and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and observation of results obtained.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


Upon declaration of a disaster and/or emergency, employees in this classification may be required to report to work.

Exudes a positive customer service focus.

Advocates building organizational culture through aligning decisions with core values including: integrity, honesty, respect, diversity, innovation, accountability and communication.

Prepares reports, forms and documents as directed by supervisor.

Performs head counts during work shift at varying intervals of no more than one hour.

Refers clients to applicable support services as required.

Reviews forms and reports for accuracy and timely receipt.

Maintains client records and helps with other clerical/record keeping duties as necessary.

Serves as night facility manager as required.
Maintains partial caseload at the discretion of and under the supervision of a higher level professional supervisor.

Participates in group counseling sessions and assists counselors with clerical duties and patient observation.

Performs the duties listed, as well as those assigned, with professionalism and a sense of urgency.

Ability to recognize, identify and respond to manipulative behavior effectively.

Ability to learn the principles and practices of counseling, and the applicable laws, rules and regulations related to providing client services.
