POSITION TITLE: Ministry Assistant

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

STATUS: Regular Part-time (29 hrs.)

LOCATION: CBC Gold Canyon

REPORTS TO: College+ Pastor

JOB SUMMARY

The College+ MA role is responsible for empowering community group leaders and volunteer teams to create opportunities for the flourishing of the College+ community (18- to 25-year-olds). The College+ MA has a role in social media, events, community groups, workshops, classes, book clubs, trips, retreats, and one-on-one meetings. This position also involves meeting with community group leaders and volunteers to resource their flourishing and development.

The College+ Ministry Assistant (MA) role is an exciting opportunity to practically support the College+ team while being developed by a variety of ministry leaders at Community Bible Church. This role is ideal for any young leader looking to develop their character while growing in theological knowledge, affection for Jesus, and hands-on skills for serving the local church.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

College+ team meeting

  • Attends bi-monthly 1:1 meeting with the college+ pastor
  • Participates in the Common Ground production meetings with the College+ team and Worship leadership
  • Actively create connections, which entails reaching out to people who submit their information to our ministry because they want to get connected to a community group or another aspect of our community
  • Participates in Leadership Development: 3-6 hours per week
  • Conducts Community group leader check-ins to get updates about their groups
  • Facilitate volunteer team environments for common ground
  • Handles Leader Roundtable coordination with monthly check-ins with all of the College+ community group leaders

Online Presence Management

  • Oversight of Instagram, Facebook, Vimeo, and podcast platforms
  • Responsible for engaging social media every day and answering questions online
  • Content planning (graphic design, Marketing liaison)

Common Ground

  • Serves as the chief connector for guests of Common Ground and Sunday services by setting up coffee meetings during the week to welcome people into the community
  • Set up, tear down, hosting, afterparty
  • Occasionally teaching or facilitating from stage

General

  • Sunday morning responsibilities (attend a service, host the Next-Gen booth, office hours)
  • Attend monthly staff meetings

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a regular part-time position (29 hours). Scheduled hours are, Sun. – Thurs. with occasional evenings and weekends as job duties demand.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to do the following:

  • Must have good or corrected vision as well as effective peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must have good manual dexterity and be able to use the repetitive motion of the hands and arms
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to move about inside the office and storage rooms to perform a variety of tasks
  • Must be able to move about outside in seasonal elements i.e., high heat, cold to perform a variety of tasks.
  • Must be able to frequently and effectively communicate in both written and verbal form
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and/or push/pull objects up to 100 pounds
  • Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, bending, and crouching
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma
  • 2-5 years of experience in administrative/clerical roles (preferred)


TRAINING AND RESOURCES

Most of the training will be a hands-on experience. This position includes personal development that will include an ongoing reading syllabus, experiential learning trips, and interaction with a variety of leaders and fields. Every MA is required to participate in a cohort of other MAs for the purpose of monthly training and curricular reading. The MA cohort is deployed into various ministry departments, including the College+ team, where individual MA’s are further developed and responsible for supporting their respective teams.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Duties are performed in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings as well as in a public service environment where the work and general environment may be fast-paced and hectic at times. Therefore, it is essential that the employee can effectively handle the normal anxieties associated with the job and manage multiple projects in a service-oriented environment. Environmental noise levels are minimal.
