The Microstransit Operations Manager position works with and reports to the Town of Great Barrington Director of Planning & Community Development and the Microtransit Program Director. The Microtransit Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the activities of the Microtransit Program. This is a full time 40 hours a week position.

This position is only guaranteed for 1 year, pending microtransit pilot success and continued funding.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Microtransit Program Director.
  • Responsible for direct supervision of microtransit operations, supervisors, and drivers, ensures accurate records.
  • Directs the operation, modification, and expansion of transit services and liaison activities between other Town departments, including the Council on Aging, and other various outside agencies.
  • Plans, organizes, and manages the activities of the Microtransit Operations Division; plans, coordinates, administers, and evaluates projects, processes, procedures, systems, and standards; develops and coordinates work plans; ensures daily service is met.
  • Coordinates regularly with and works closely with the Council on Aging Director and staff of the senior center’s transportation program.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned programs; recommends and administers policies and procedures.
  • Selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned personnel; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; implements discipline and termination procedures.
  • Analyzes and plans transit operations; recommends improvements, modifications, or elimination of schedules and routes.
  • Markets and promotes the use and expansion of the microtransit system through meetings with community groups, the general public and by attending public hearings and informational meetings.
  • Responds to inquiries, complaints, and correspondence from riders and the public; prepares special reports and studies and conducts investigations related to microtransit operations.
  • Supervises microtransit safety and training programs and the maintenance and compilation of related records; processes compensation claims; coordinates the driver physical exam program.
  • Develops, prepares, and administers the Division budget; participates in the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitors and approves expenditures; implements adjustments.
  • Provide responsible staff assistance to the Microtransit Program Director; prepares a variety of reports on division activities.
  • Serve as the liaison for the Microtransit Operations Division with other divisions, departments, general public, and outside agencies; negotiates and resolves sensitive and controversial issues.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in public transit.
  • Experience working with seniors preferred.
  • Familiarity with GIS preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, operations management, business management, or planning preferred and can be substituted for up to 2 years of required work experience or a graduate degree in regional planning, civil engineering, operations management or equivalent can be substituted for up to 3 years of required work experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
