Summary
Responsible for providing professional care to the patients under the supervision of the provider. Assists provider(s) in coordinating patient care. Functions as the primary liaison between patients and provider.

Essential Duties
1. Checks in and prepares patient for provider.
2. Receives and returns all telephone calls in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
3. Checks patients in and out for their appointment.
4. Gathers all written information, documents patient symptoms, and relays message to appropriate provider(s).
5. Schedules patient appointments.
6. Manages prior authorizations and referrals.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma.
  • At least one year experience working in a medical office.

Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations

  • Medical Assistant Certification.
  • Current BLS Certification.

Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Computer Skills
Has advanced basic computer job skills including logging on to systems, ability to communicate by email, ability to compose documents, enter database information, create presentations, download forms, and preserve/backup important data.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram,or schedule form.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
