Technical Instructor

Accent Controls, Inc. (ACI) is seeking a full-time Course Developer for first shift supporting the Logistics Readiness of the Army Reserve Equipment and Facilities for the 99th Readiness Division located in Fort DIX NJ

Technical Instructor's (TI) main focus is to provide training instruction to the Army Reserve Full Time Manning (FTM), Troop Program Unit (TPU), Soldiers and Civilian Technicians with technical Hands on Training (HOT) in Automotive, Engineer, Power Generation, Refrigerant and Special Purpose Equipment Repair. The Technical Instructor teaches one or more short courses; prepares an instructional program in accordance with training or other course requirements, assembling materials to be presented; teaches assigned topics in accordance with approved curriculum effectively utilizing all allotted time, maintains proficiency in instructional techniques, incorporates current examples in the teaching process (e.g. develops clarification or real world examples of application related to the subject matter); develops and maintains classroom techniques that reflect professionalism, good discipline and enhance teaching. The Technical Instructor alternates teaching techniques in order to maintain high motivation and interest in the subject areas, administers grades, records and critiques examinations; prepares and administers remedial assignments, submits written recommendations for curriculum updates to ensure consistency with changes and innovations in latest applicable publications or documents.

The Technical Instructor (TI) will be expected to independently conduct HOT, record the training event, and maintain the shop in accordance with the unit's Standing Operating Procedures (SOP). The TI will work under the direction of the command's HOT Coordinator and with Army Reserve Officers, Warrant Officers, and non-Commission Officers and must be highly knowledgeable of the Army Maintenance System particularly the two-tier maintenance doctrine and training techniques. The TI may also work as a training facilitator by providing assistance and advice to Soldiers participating in unit HOT where the unit NCO's are responsible for training unit members. In this case the TI will advise the participants on repairs required, give detailed explanations and demonstrations of how the work is performed; use of various tools and equipment such as welding machines, grinding machines, test measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE), etc.; observe participants work and offer constructive suggestions. Support may also include providing written documentation such as technical manuals, individual work instructions, Program of Instructions (POI) requirements and other forms of written and visual training aids.

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent
  • A valid U.S. State issued CLASS A CDL Commercial Driver's License
  • Minimum five (5) years verifiable experience in teaching and instructing on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to heavy military equipment.

The Technical Instructors position is covered under The McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA) with Wage Determinations (WDs). SCA positions furnish services in the U.S. through the employment of service employees. Service employees are compensated per the prevailing wage rates and fringe benefits that are set by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Wage and Hour Division's WDs. 29 CFR Part 541 and 29 CFR 4.163(f)

15090 Technical Instructor

Provides assistance to Army Reserve units with coordinating logistics training activities at the AMSA's and ECS's Logistical Sustainment Training Program (LSTP) Facility, at AMSA 8 Schenectady, N.Y. Out Source training (specific programs) will be conducted at the Unit/Individual training sight of a designated training facilities. Assistance will be oriented to the Military Occupation Skill (MOS) Logistic Sustainment Training Program's Facility in Automotive, Engineer, Power Generation, Supply and Special Purpose training and repair. The coordinator's main focus will be to Army Reserve Full Time Manning (FTM), Troop Program Unit (TPU) cadre and Civil Service personnel in coordinating and facilitating HOT technical training. This consists of assisting with development of requirements and assisting with facilities, tooling, automation, and life support. The coordinator will assist with identifying and assisting AMSA's/ECS's, and units with establishing MOS sustainment training programs at the LSTP Facility or additional training facilities. The coordinator will assist training facilities and units with scheduling and facilitate flow of FTM/ civilian personnel to the activities for training and will ensure that training is conducted to Army Standards. The coordinator will assist units training meetings, command, and unit TYP and will participate in other HOT coordination meetings as required. Coordinators will build, input, modify and update HOT courses on the Army Training Requirements and Resources System (ATRRS). Individual filling this position should be capable of providing maintenance/supply sustainment (Field Level Maintenance) training tasks to Army Reserve Soldiers If required.

Responsibilities

The Contractor shall provide training to Government personnel at the Logistical Support Training Center (LSTC) and the Logistical Support Training Program (LSTP). All training will meet Army, Federal, or industry standards, whichever is most stringent. Training shall be presented professionally and to the highest standard - effective, expedious, courteous, and focused on issue resolution. The contractor must maintain student files, to include licensing information and test results for the LSTC.

Job Requirements

Technical Instructor must have a valid drivers U.S. State issued CLASS A (CDL) Commercial Drivers License. With 5 years verifiable experience in teaching and instructing on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to heavy military equipment

Must be skilled in scheduling and assigning training and providing training schedules as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed inside and occasionally outside with exposure to some inclement weather such as wind,snow, and rain. Frequently stands on hard surfaces for long periods of time. Maybe exposed to drafts, vehicle exhaust fumes, fluids, dirt, grease, oils, resulting in burns, cuts, scrapes, bruises and skin irritation. Wearing of protective wear and other safety equipment is required during all periods of exposure to hazardous conditions.
