Job Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer will design and test all aspects of mechanical equipment used in our multi-line multi-facility food manufacturing company including equipment commissioning and decommissioning, sanitary design, thermal process, and CIP systems focused on process improvement and strategic growth.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Maintenance Superintendent, Craftsmen, and maintenance staff.
  • Coordinate and track preventative maintenance schedule to increase operational success.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Designs workflows, blueprints, schematics, and operation process mapping for mechanical systems in multi-line food manufacturing facilities.
  • Uses expertise to create design sketches, layouts, and plans.
  • Develops detail layouts for current and future manufacturing equipment across the operations.
  • Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) software to create preliminary and detailed drawings of manufacturing equipment and product flow.
  • Hands on management, supervision, and project management of all aspects of industrial food manufacturing equipment.
  • Builds models, designs, and prototypes for lean & cost reductive projects with safety first.
  • Makes sound engineering recommendations to increase machine reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Implement and manage operational plans and strategies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent mechanical and technical skills.
  • Proficient with computer-assisted design (CAD) software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five years of related experience preferred.
  • Highly proficient in CAD or similar design programs

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to access and inspect all areas of machinery.
