STAFF ENGINEER PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Develops mechanical techniques, procedures, and application of mechanical equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, and Operation of product designs.

Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer generated reports.

Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.

Supervise and coordinate activities of machine shop personnel engaged in machining metallic and nonmetallic work pieces to produce, maintain, or repair crane parts.

Oversee Installation, Operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.

Establish and coordinate the maintenance and safety procedures, service schedule, and supply of materials required to maintain machines and equipment in the prescribed condition.

Create job scope, write engineering letter and project proposition to correct crane deficiencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
At least a 4 year Degree in Mechanical, Structural, Civil, etc.

At least 2 years design experience.

Must be willing to travel offshore for engineering inspections.

Crane related experience and offshore experience a plus.

EI or PE certifications.

Physical Requirements of the Job:
Language - Must be able to write and speak English Climbing - multiple flights of stairs throughout the day, Climbing on Structures Drug and Alcohol Screen - GCS has a “Zero Tolerance” program; Subject to random testing Pulling - your own weight along a vertical ladder or horizontal plane Grip Strength - Will need to hold your own body weight for a 10-second proficiency exam on a swing rope from boat to platform (Simulated) Additional Job Requirements for Safety:

H2s – Could be assigned to work in H2s environments Noise - outdoor environment, very loud ear plugs required Swimming - must know how and could be exposed to sea life Heights (Acrophobia) - Able to fly and work at heights to 200’; Able to fly in helicopters and work High Heat Environments – will work outdoors, direct sunlight, temperatures up to 90+F Service Vessel Travel - 1-18 hours by boat to other offshore facilities Environment - Must be able to work offshore for extended periods of time Air Travel 1-4 hours by helicopter to offshore facilities longer for deep water platforms (potentially longer) Confined Spaces - (Claustrophobia) enclosed areas, e.g. quarters, inside of pedestals, barges, buildings, boats Weather - High winds, lightning, rough seas, transfer often to other platforms, cold temperatures Hydration -During summer months, must drink plenty of liquids throughout the day, e.g. 4oz every 15 minutes PPE - don long sleeved FR clothing, harness & lanyard, steel-toed boots, hardhat and sometimes a personal floatation device or work vest and tools. (This will increase body heat and overall weight) Safety Training Requirements:
