A Materials Manager job in Gratz, PA is available at MI Windows and Doors (MITER Brands). You should have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Management or a related field. As a member of the location leadership team, you will manage Purchasing and Receiving's functional areas. You will be responsible for tracking and reporting internal supply manufacturing costs, along with the cost of product calculations, waste costs, and month-end financial close documents. The annual compensation range is $88,000.00 to $116,000.00, depending on experience. Materials Manager job responsibilities include:

  • Controls inventory levels across the site to minimize inventory investment while providing optimum availability of materials through effective supervision of the site SCM (Supply Chain Management) team
  • Supervises site Receiving Supervisor, Buyer/Planners and others as assigned.
  • Reviews purchase requisitions for proper authorization levels and other required data
  • Works with MIWD Quality Control organization to drive programs related to supplier and material quality assurance, material returns, disposition and scrap disposal
  • Analyzes data related to inventory activity including cycle counts; Analyzes root cause and corrective action and prepares management reports as directed
  • Implements and drives compliance to all company SCM strategies and policies to assure consistent application across the site
  • Monitors and/or plans for changing inventory requirements through participation in and development of effective sales & operations planning (S&OP) processes
  • Leads the site SCM team to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) relative to all direct materials, MRO, scrap materials and supplies
  • Coordinates site SCM activities with those of other MIWD sites as needed to drive best practices and efficiencies
  • Interfaces with site General Manger and Corporate SCM team to address challenges and identify opportunities for continuous improvement using lean management methodologies
  • Ensures safety training and policies are in place and adhered to; Assists in root cause & corrective action of near misses or incidents
  • Manages talent development and succession plan for team

  • Cycle Count Accuracy
  • Inventory Days on Hand (Turns)
  • Number of Stock-outs
  • Safety Incident rate for Department

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in Business Management or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Association for Supply Chain Management (ACICS) or Institute for Supply Management (ISM) certification preferred.
  • Three to five years of materials management experience in a high-volume manufacturing facility.
  • Knowledge and ability to deploy APICS, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, and Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Excellent communication (including x-functional), problem solving and computer skills
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively motivate team members and others with diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Software and DataWorks or other operating systems as required
  • Continuous improvement or lean manufacturing experience a plus
  • Expert level Excel skills for data analysis
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills and solid computer skills
