SUMMARY

A Master Production Scheduler is responsible for ensuring that all timelines related to the supply chain (i.e., all departments and processes involved in the manufacturing of goods such as procurement, sourcing and production) are adhered to and proceed in an efficient manner. They will utilize the ERP system to ensure that all work centers are at 100% capacity and adjust the production plan when necessary. They will coordinate with the planners and ensure that they are releasing work orders in a timely manner.

Duties

Works with ERP data system to determine current production priorities. Works with and through other departments to resolve bottlenecks. Constantly maintains communication with relevant others to ensure understanding of production priorities.

Works directly on the shop-floor to ensure that production moves through its appropriate manufacturing processes in a timely manner. Moves products from station-to-station when necessary; and completes all appropriate routers and other documentation as required.

Assists other departments in achieving company production objectives and goals.
Works with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Customer Service, Marketing, Planning and Sales, as necessary, to resolve production problems.

General Qualifications:

Able to read, understand and precisely follow job-routing instructions accurately in order to establish production priorities and schedules. Advanced understanding of manufacturing drawings.
Related data system experience, which would allow highest level understanding of ERP data systems. Advanced computer skills (e g, M/S Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Able to communicate verbally (and in writing) without losing personal objectiveness, and without losing proper perspective while under high level pressure.
Able to work in a very fast-paced machine shop, with constantly changing work priorities, and with appropriate interaction with decision makers necessary to ensure completion of production assignments in a timely manner.

Education and/or Experience

Minimum 48-months manufacturing experience within a machine shop environment; with additional 6 yrs. Expediting, Planning or Scheduling experience.
Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a BA degree in Business that would provide the required knowledge, skill and ability to perform the job.

Language Skills

The ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing is essential. Reports, email correspondence, schedules, are all typical requirements of this position and must be effectively and professionally communicated.

Mathematical Skills

Basic math skills required.

Reasoning Ability

Must be able to multitask and operate in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a disciplined approach to oversee all production scheduling needs. The ability to understand the company’s needs and requirements is essential. Must be able to solve both practical and complex problems and deal with a variety of factors in situations where only limited standardization exists.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position may work in various environments including office, factory or home settings. 20% shop-floor production areas, and 80% noise and temperature-controlled office environment: walking / standing on hard surfaces 1-2 hours per day. Routine lifting, carrying and pushing up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 75 lbs with assistance; safety glasses and hearing protection required on shopfloor. Overtime on weekdays and Saturdays may be required (sometimes with short notice) in order to meet specific customers’ requirements.
