Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer II is part of a team dedicated to advancing Nanotech’s machine technology. This position is responsible for manufacturing engineering and support of ultra-precision machine systems for the electro-optics manufacturing industry. This position interfaces with cross-functional groups to develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods and will coordinate the introduction of new or revised products to Assembly. The Manufacturing Engineer II will work under the general supervision of more experienced personnel. Typical projects are a combination of new development, maintenance, and revision of existing applications and processes.

Core Responsibilities

  • Utilizes principles, theories, concepts, and techniques of the manufacturing engineering discipline.
  • Solves manufacturing problems using precision engineering practices under general supervision of more experienced personnel.
  • Completes small projects or phases/portions of larger projects.
  • Leads cost reduction activities on current products and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Creates work instructions for Assembly.
  • Creates troubleshooting guides for Assembly, Service, and external customers.
  • Works with Engineering to ensure the smooth transition of new products into production.
  • Aids in the improvement of manufacturing processes using industry best practices, to include Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Aids in the implementation of engineering changes (EC) according to standard procedures with attention to detail of the design, how the EC will affect disposition of past, present, and future effected products, and EC documentation.
  • Handles multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, while effectively managing priorities and communicating progress.
  • Actively participates in product design reviews and works directly with the Engineering team to ensure a smooth launch of new products.
  • Ensures that all relevant data is collected, reviewed, and filed for all projects in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Prepares and presents detailed technical reports to management and staff.
  • Performs in-house technical support.
  • Helps to achieve the completion of all projects within budget and on schedule.
  • Complies with safety regulations, ensuring that safe work practices are followed.
  • Travels up to 10% of the time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical discipline from an accredited university and 5+ years of work experience.
  • Demonstrated versatility and high competency levels in creativity and technical comprehension.
  • Efficient and effective use of engineering tools such as CAD, Enterprise Product Data Management (EPDM) and associated workflows, and release processes.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite.
