Manager, Student Affairs - Clinical Student Experience

The Manager, Student Affairs (Clinical Student Experience) will be an integral member of Ross University School of Medicine’s (RUSM) Student Affairs team, reporting to the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical student programming, activities, and experiences to improve student success and satisfaction, building a strong sense of community.

The Manager, Student Affairs (Clinical Student Experience) acts as a primary Student Affairs’ point of contact for third- and fourth-year medical students assigned to their specific clinical campus. This position has key responsibilities in serving as the advisor to the Clinical Student Government Association (CSGA), clinical student organizations as well as coordinating the clinical student peer mentoring program, and clinical science orientation programming.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for Clinical Student Organization Development
  • Provides regular assistance and oversight to the CSGA, RUSM’s Medical Specialty Societies, and other student groups in the implementation of their tasks, responsibilities, and programming.
  • Provides regular and ongoing communications/updates regarding CSGA activities, challenges, progress, and achievements.
  • Manage social media and web content for the CSGA and Clinical Student Affairs team to ensure content has current information, resources, media, etc.
  • In conjunction with the RUSM and CSGA leadership teams, create clear CSGA budget processes, ensuring fiscal responsibility, effective planning, and effective use of resources complying with applicable laws, regulations, and University/Organization policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the Medical Sciences SGA Advisor and Campus Activities Board in developing and maintaining bylaws and constitutions that align with the University’s standards of expected behaviors.
  • Serve as a resource for student organizations and other RUSM entities by providing comprehensive direction and processes for efficient and effective program and event planning.
  • Assist in identifying and training of Medical Specialty Interest Group and Student Organization Advisors.
  • Encourage student engagement, including student-initiated projects and community service programs.
  • Responsible for Clinical Science Student Orientation and Peer Mentoring Programming
  • Leads the planning, implementation, and coordination of clinical student orientation programming.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating the Clinical Student Peer Mentoring program.
  • Support Student Conduct Processes
  • Assists the Student Conduct Office in responding to student organization, behavioral and professional concerns.
  • Responds to individual and student group concerns, strengthening student success and satisfaction.
  • Support all Departmental Responsibilities
  • Promote a school spirit and a sense of university pride.
  • Actively participate in professional development related to student affairs, campus life, and student organizations.
  • Serves as a liaison with university departments, outside vendors, hospitals, and other departments in developing and supporting Student Affairs programming.
  • Develop, implement, and provide monthly data reports, evaluating program effectiveness and feasibility to RUSM leadership, CSGA, and student organizations.
  • Assist in achieving the mission, goals, and culture of RUSM and the Office of Student Affairs
  • As needed: travel and evening/weekend “on-call’ duties for Student Affairs as related to CSGA and student activities.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience advising students or student organizations in a higher education/university environment.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in student activities, student government, student unions, and advising.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to coordinate a variety of work activities and work as part of a team.
  • Excellent customer service, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Master’s degree in higher education administration, college student development, counseling, or related field.
Preferred Experiences:
  • Medical education experience, preferably working with 3rd and 4th year medical students in clinical experience, residency specialties, etc.
  • Experience facilitating risk management and crisis response education to student and/or student organizations.
  • Experience conducting workshops and training sessions for student organizations members and/or advisors to student organizations
