Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for providing industrial hygiene support within the Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) Occupational Safety & Industrial Hygiene (OS&IH) Division.

  • Manages, oversees, evaluates, or participates in various Industrial Hygiene related programs as required by MSTS and NNSA regulations and instructions as well as all required federal standards.

  • Demonstrates industrial hygiene leadership and understanding of company priorities and initiatives.

  • Ensures adequate staff and equipment are available to support operations and projects.

  • Advises on and performs IH sampling, instrumentation use, and control measure development

  • Determins the nature and magnitude of hazardous exposure and the effectiveness of existing controls.

  • Consistently implements IH policies and procedures while helping technicians, scientists, and key project personnel understand IH guidelines, policies, and recommendations.

  • Oversees the IH program for security police force and DAF operations.

  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts surveys of work sites to observe work practices and conditions for health hazards.

  • Ensures IH company directives and procedures are relevant, effective, and up to date.

  • Recommends actions related to non-compliance and follows through to ensure corrective actions, as stipulated by the supervisor, manager, or departmental lead, are implemented.

  • Support and encourage participation in MSTS environment, safety, and health initiatives.

  • Will stop work if occupational safety and/or industrial hygiene requirements are compromised.

  • Accomplishes IH staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and discplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systesm, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.

  • Responsible for mentoring IH technicians and scientist level staff members.

  • Takes on a lead role for IH related investigation efforts.

  • Accept individual responsibility and accountability for environment, safety, health, and quality processes within personal control, personal safety, and the safety of co-workers. Comply with established regulations and procedures for environment, safety, health, and quality and perform duties in a way that will not cause personal danger, endanger other individuals, or violate environment, safety, health, and quality regulations. Promptly correct or report any hazard or potential hazard to supervision.

Qualifications:
Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 11 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

Department of Energy Q Clearance
(position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Annual salary range for this position is: $118,248.00 - $189,196.80

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
