Job & Travel Information
: About 80% of your work will be remote however there is a travel component to Las Cruces about 2 to 3 times a week to meet with Donors (depending on Donor's preference these meetings can be virtual as well). If located in Albuquerque we would pay for mileage, and lodging if necessary.

Albuquerque Applicants : Because Development is a relationship-based field, we would like staff will be in office together one day a week to get to know your colleagues.
  • Applicants outside of Albuquerque: Travel requirements to ABQ Admin Office would be waived.

Range: $71,834.12- $80,849.94 Exempt, Salaried

Development Team Objective: You will support PPRM’s programs by raising private gifts from individuals, foundations, companies, local governments, and other sources.
The Objective: While supporting the vision, mission, goals and values of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, you will manage a study project to determine the feasibility of raising the funds needed to create a physical space serving as a community health center providing full spectrum of reproductive and sexual health care in the Las Cruces, NM community and you will manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospects and engage in identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for current and future gifts.

Success:
You will know you are successful when a robust feasibility study is complete and the donor relationships you guide, develop, or maintain through connection, education, cultivation, and stewardship efforts lead to gifts of $25,000 and above help sustain PPRM’s mission and future.

Snapshot:
Your days will be filled with developing and implementing a plan and strategies that engage prospects in considering the importance of a community health center and later in financially supporting the project. Activities will include but are not limited to prospect discovery work, figuring out how to get in front people to start the engagement process, lining up the right PPRM people (which might or might not be this person, depending on the prospect), organizing key meeting, and drafting written materials. You will coordinate with senior development, executive, and program staff and key volunteers with a focus on elevating current giving and completing solicitations for major gifts in support of PPRM priorities. You may attend meetings and events before and after business hours and may work some evenings and weekends. You will travel across New Mexico regularly and throughout our affiliate region occasionally.
Qualifications:
You are an enthusiastic and dedicated team player with the ability to support PPRM’s mission. You have 2 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising with a focus on elevating donor engagement and solicitation. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and consistently practice ethical communication. You establish and build relationships using intuitive communication and listening skills. You have provided high-level customer service in previous roles, both with external and internal constituencies. You are skilled in planning and problem solving as well as scheduling and time management. You are proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and may also have used Raiser’s Edge, as well as other additional technology necessary to perform job functions. You may be bilingual in Spanish and/or bicultural.

Primary Areas of Responsibility/Essential Functions:
Plan and coordinate the execution a feasibility study to determine the viability of a fundraising campaign for a community health center in Las Cruces, NM: You will work with PPRM and development leadership, development consultant, and NM partners to:
  • Determine what is to be achieved if a campaign is launched
  • Detail the specifics of the study plan and ensure that each key step in the plan is being accomplished efficiently and effectively
  • Prepare the briefing and assessment/case for support and other support materials
  • Coordinate with the Manager of Prospect Research and the Major Gifts team to identify key stakeholders and develop strategies for engaging them in the study
  • Coordinate the logistics of the study implementation including but not limited to mailing lead letters, scheduling and organizing key meetings, preparing or assuring the preparation of meeting briefs.
  • Monitor the quality of the interviews, the timely and thorough recording of the information gleaned during the conversations, the identification of appropriate action items that should follow each conversation and the execution of those follow-on steps for each conversation.
  • Taking on tasks that arise during the project where information might need to be gathered and organized
  • Ensure ongoing communication and coordination of the study through written progress reports, meetings, and other formal and informal mechanisms.
Manage Donor Portfolio: You are responsible for developing and managing a condensed portfolio of major gift prospects/donors identified through the feasibility study. You engage in direct solicitation work as well as behind-the-scenes research and preparation that enables effective fundraising. Included in your responsibilities, you will:
  • Manage an active portfolio of up to 20 prospective major donors (capacity for $25,000 and more annually) moving these prospects toward a major gift including:
o Developing and implementing a well-defined donor cultivation and solicitation strategy for restricted and annual gifts. Also, look for opportunities to solicit support for C4 and planned gifts as appropriate.
o Orchestrate and/or participate in face-to-face solicitations with current and potential major donors by scheduling visits with CEO, senior Development and program staff, and/or key volunteers.
  • Work with prospect research staff to broaden base of potential supporters and coordinate with development staff in the cultivation, identification and upgrade of donors.

  • Act as a donor cultivation and solicitation strategy partner with other fundraising staff.
  • Support the Board of Trustees with regards to their development work.
  • Work as a Development team member to meet fiscal year fundraising goals, create and adhere to the strategic plan and annual budget.
  • Support the team environment with ideas and skills as required by team direction including but not limited to editing/proofing and writing of other written materials as appropriate.
  • Support agency wide objectives through, but not limited to attending PPRM, PPRMAF, and external events, and by participating in task forces and committees.

COVID-19 Vaccine & Booster: PPRM requires that all employees are fully vaccinated and boosted as a condition of employment. An employee is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) or one dose of a single- dose vaccination (Johnson and Johnson/Janssen). The COVID-19 vaccine booster shot is required by the first day of employment, or five months after receiving the final dose of the original vaccine series, whichever is later. Proof must be uploaded upon starting. You will upload a picture or pdf of your vaccination card(s) on your first day of orientation.

Flu Protocol:
All employees working directly with patients or working in a health center will be required to have the flu shot or wear a mask during patient contact or while in the health center from October 1 – April 30 each year (Flu Season). The flu shot will be available to health center employees in the health center in addition to being able to seek the flu vaccine externally through the medical plan or reimbursement.
