The Role


The Maintenance Supervisor works under the direction of the Facilities Engineering Manager, to ensure the safe, efficient operation of the industrial machinery, equipment and facilities. The Maintenance Supervisor will have primary responsibility of supervising the Maintenance department of electricians and mechanics. Providing subordinates with work schedules, work assignments and oversees their work completion. The Maintenance Supervisor will also have responsibility for the implementation of controls, automation, Manufacturing 4.0, WCM projects and upgrades impacting Merrimack, NH equipment and facilities. An employee in this position works in an environment in which safety, environmental and health concerns may demand constant attention. Strict adherence to Corporate and/or local policies, rules, and regulations in these areas is required. A commitment to carrying out the Company's Policies is required. An employee in this position must focus on customers' expectations, prevent problems, and strive for continuous improvement resulting in improved results for themselves, customers and other employees.


Requirements


General and Task Management

Responsible for maintaining all manufacturing machinery, equipment and facilities in a safe, efficient condition by:

o Effectively delegate any maintenance issues to be resolved on each shift and small projects to the right skills in the team, planning and managing effective works

o Develop a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule, ensure full preventative maintenance is carried out, plan in missed maintenance activities, and lead the team to deliver effectively

o Participate/Lead continuous improvement projects – WCM (World Class Manufacturing) and Manufacturing 4.0

o Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems

o Identify business & equipment improvement opportunities within the organization

o Provide technical expertise to the team

o Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources as required

o Manage contractors to ensure they are meeting all EHS policies, while completing work tasks in a timely but safe manor correcting/fixing issues the first time and ensuring quality workmanship

o Create Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR’s) for new equipment and current equipment upgrades

People Management

o Performance management of direct reports that meets agreed objectives and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements

o Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports

o Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them

o Review, implement and update company records e.g. training matrices, performance reviews, risk assessments

o Responsible for timekeeping of direct reports. Responsible for proper documentation/record keeping.

Relationship Management

o Work as part of the Management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements delivery in line with Company and Customer requirements

o Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance

o Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the maintenance strategy

Self-Management

o Support, comply and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures

o Support encourage and develop team and take ownership for team cohesion

Strategy and Development

o Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice maintenance vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance

o Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Maintenance activities

o Continue to Develop employee job skills in all areas related Maintenance of equipment and Facilities


Additional Requirements


Practical / Technical Knowledge

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Strong project management skills, from concept to implementation, managing schedule, resources and budget
  • Experience maintaining Allen-Bradley controls platform as well as PLC programming and connectivity and industrial networking
  • Strong background in Electrical maintenance
  • Good communications skills, ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization
  • Computer Skills: Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) as well as internet and other computer-based systems. Statistics, Six Sigma, Lean, Network understanding and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to train plant personnel
  • Able to operate as a team leader and as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated leadership skills through leading successful projects and leading maintenance department
