Salary: WG 10 - $29.39 - $34.32 (Hourly)

$61,336.93 - $71,625.84 (Annually)

Physical Effects:

The incumbent may work from ladders, scaffolding and in hard to reach spaces. Duties require the employee to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The incumbent may be exposed to bruises, burns, electrical shock, and other injuries in performing repairs and inspections. Some work may be sedentary. Ability to lift and carry approximately fifty (50) pounds.

Working Conditions:

Incumbent will be required to work in inclement weather such as extreme heat, drought, rain, snow, wind etc. Inside work is normally in a building that is adequately heated or cooled, well lit, and ventilated, however, some buildings may not have these amenities. Proper clothing and equipment should be used to mitigate exposure to the elements. Will be exposed to chemicals, fumes, lead dust, propane, gunpowder, solvents, cleaners, and high levels of noise. Incumbent takes required precautions to minimize exposure. Handles HAZMAT materials and uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary. The incumbent may be required to work shifts, to include weekends, and/or holidays, performing a variety of specialized duties associated with day-to-day operations. May be called upon to respond to a maintenance emergency at any time.

Major Duties:

Management will leverage employee's strong trades along with subject matter experts to accomplish projects. Professional training will be provided as required and/or needed. Major duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Upkeep of the FBI Firearms Range and its facilities, complexes, buildings, grounds, structures, fixtures, utilities, and relevant equipment.
  • Maintain and repair target systems and structures.
  • Obtain and transport ammunition, targets, and other supplies to assist with the set up and breakdown of ranges.
  • Perform grounds maintenance by mowing grass, trimming, ground irrigation, snow and ice removal, trash pick up, varmint removal, pest control, etc.
  • Perform a variety of general labor duties.
  • Repair equipment, buildings or other structures by welding, grinding, cutting various metals.
  • Operate light and heavy equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Purchase and maintain general inventory of common supplies and parts to operate and maintain the range and all related systems, facilities, and equipment.
  • Conduct OSHA mandated inventory of Hazardous Chemicals and maintains the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and/or Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all applicable items located at the range.

Work Experience (WE):

WG-10: Applicant must possess experience that demonstrates their ability in a variety of trade practices associated with the following:

  • Perfroms carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical, heating and air conditioning, painting, grounds maintenance/landscaping, locksmith, general labor, and other trade type work.
  • Set up and breakdown ranges by transporting ammunition, targets, and other appropriate supplies and clearing range area of expended ammunition casings to ensure casings are stored properly.
  • Test range systems prior to use; ensuring area is free from debris; providing any corrective action as necessary.
  • Maintain grounds to ensure all grounds are free from trash, mowing and trimming grass, shrubs, etc., irrigating, fertilizing/mulching, snow/ice removal, removal of wildlife and insect infestations as needed.
  • Purchase and maintain a general inventory of supplies to operate and maintain the facility and equipment.

Education may not be substituted for work experience for this grade level.
