Overview:
Overall Position Summary and Objectives:
Provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute on Aging. The primary objective is to provide services and deliverables through performance of support services.

Maintains government vehicles and performs preventative maintenance, calibrations, certifications and repairs
Test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturers' performance specifications

Provide services related to the upkeep of the three (3) government-owned Mobile Research Vehicles MRVs under the Healthy Aging in Neighborhoods of Diversity across the Life Span (HANDLS) study, to include preventive maintenance, calibrations and certifications/re-certifications for on-board biomedical equipment and necessary minor repairs, such as plumbing, hydraulic system, water pumps and fuel pumps.

Work with staff on the identification of new locations; identify the required utilities for deploying the MRVs.
Serve as back up in transporting HANDLS clients while obeying state and federal regulations and speed limits. 3
Work with staff on removing snow and ice from MRV site when necessary.
Respond to burglar, fire, temperature alarms and maintenance emergencies on MRVsDrive MRVs to designated site locations within the Baltimore area; drive annually out-of-state for annual maintenance.
On-Call or Rotational Shifts, if needed

In an emergency situation, contract employee is available to the best of his/her abilities to perform his/her assigned duties in order to ensure the continuity of NIA’s critical core functions as appropriate. Emergencies can range from inclement weather or a building fire/flood to a natural disaster or terrorist attack. 1

As an emergency staff member, the contract employee will perform his/her assigned duties as requested to help protect NIA’s critical resources (e.g., staff, participants, research, property), and help to ensure the continuation of NIA Critical Core Functions. The core functions include: (1) maintenance of employee safety; (2) care for clinical study participants; (3) maintenance of physical security; (4) maintenance of mission critical laboratory and clinical experiments and scientific equipment; (5) safeguarding perishable laboratory samples and biological stock; (6) preservation and protection of NIA information systems and data; (7) communication with NIA researchers and grantees; NIH and various Institutes and Centers; other government agencies; private sector partnering organizations; and key stakeholders. The core functions the contract employee will be expected to support are those that relate to his/her assigned duties as outlined in the position description/statement of work
