Overview:
The maintainer is responsible for general maintenance of the facilities and grounds of the agency. This position will work primarily for our seven TIL (Transitional Independent Living) Programs located in Brooklyn and the Bronx.

Responsibilities:


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Make basic repairs
  • Drywall and painting
  • Basic plumbing and electrical work
  • Mowing and landscaping as needed
  • On off hours you may be called in for emergency situations
  • May be called upon to work late evening hours and/ or weekend hours when projects have a tight deadline
  • Maintain the exterior of the building front and rear (parking lot). During snow season, will be responsible for cleaning paths; salting/sanding

Work Environment


Primary environments are in and about the several residential locations assigned.


Physical Demands


  • Regularly required to operate a vehicle to travel throughout work sites
  • Regularly required to walk about
  • Routinely required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
  • Regularly required to climb stairs and/or ladders
  • Occasionally required to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Routinely required to stand for long periods of time


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work


This position requires a 24 hour/7 days per week on call schedule availability in case of emergencies. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, 37.5 hours per week.


Travel


This position requires frequent travel between Rising Ground sites and offices as necessary


Required Education and Experience

  • High school or General Education Diploma (GED) required
  • 3-5 years of Maintenance experience
  • Valid NYS, NJ or Connecticut Driver’s License required
  • At least 2 years driving experience
  • Intermediate technical skills – MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Email and Calendaring
  • Ability to operate computer software to plan spaces and moves, manage buildings, maintenance, and service requests

Preferred Education and Experience


OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety and Health Certification


Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Ability to work independently with support from General Services Supervisor
  • Must be able to work with a sensitive/vulnerable population. Previous experience in such a field is a plus
