Machine Shop Supervisor Job at American Aluminum Extrusion Company
This position is responsible for safely supervising the machine shop and associated team members across three shifts. We machine parts with varying degrees of features and lengths consisting of both high and low-quantity volumes. We also design, machine, and assemble parts for our own internal use. Our machine shop equipment consists of CNC and manual lathes, horizontal and vertical machining centers, boring bars, and punch presses.
Key job duties include quoting, creating job travelers, maintaining efficient plant workflow, evaluating job performance, and implementing process improvements. We’re looking for someone who can lead our machinists, and who places an emphasis on safety, quality, cross-training, communication, throughput, and meeting projected job times.
The successful candidate will have all or a combination of the following:
Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other improvement programs, with the ability to achieve certification.- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and production metrics to maintain on-time delivery and quality standards
- Proficiency using CAD/CAM, preferably Mastercam
- Ability to design fixtures and gages for vertical, and horizontal machining centers and punch presses
- Proven knowledge and experience in the quoting process and thorough knowledge of machining processes and machine capabilities
- Ability to complete accurate documentation and work with MRP systems
- Safe work habits and the ability to cross-train others
- 5 years of supervisory experience
