JOB DESCRIPTION: Slasher Operator

This position requires a flexible person, as one will be required to rotate from week to week on a different shift, as needed. Must be available to work 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift

$18.08/hr. (This position does require overtime, when necessary)

The Slasher Operator is responsible for the overall operation of the Slasher. The job requires help to perform the duties and responsibilities. Verify machine is producing at an acceptable quality level before trying to process any production material whenever machine has been standing due to no work available, weekends, maintenance, etc. Notify a member of your management team if any issues are noted. Perform required equipment inspections.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must work safely, following all job, plant, and department safety rules to avoid injury to self / others.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment when required. Interpret manufacture order and Construction Sheet.
  • Know how to check for solids and viscosity
  • Correctly use overhead hoist
  • Correctly mark off hook reed
  • Know how to read measurement on yardstick
  • Know the correct sizing used on yarn. Refer to the size formula book
  • Correctly and consistently set temperatures on cylinders, pans and storage kettle
  • Perform set up procedures at creel run out
  • Load section set into creel
  • Lay section beam yarn into hook reed
  • Tie and pull section beam yarn over drying cylinders
  • Get cross lease and lay in swing comb
  • Insert burst rods
  • Line up loom beam and start machine
  • Maintain correct speed and tension on slasher
  • Observe front of slasher for breaks, lost ends, or yarn defects; stop machine repair breaks and glue lost ends
  • Maintain selvages of warp
  • Fill out necessary paperwork
  • Lease out and doff warps with assistance
  • Observe machine for malfunctions and react accordingly Delegate duties to obtain an efficient and quality operation
  • Perform miscellaneous duties when requested
  • Keep work area clean and orderly

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years' manufacturing experience, preferably in a textile environment
  • Must be able to read, understand, and follow written instructions, doff tickets and standard work instructions.
  • Capacity to work independently
  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • Ability to lift light to heavy weight
