Job Title: Mixing Machine Operator

Shift: 12:30 PM 9:00 PM

Position Objective: Under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager, Mixers are responsible for mixing, operating and tending to machines ensuring the production of innovative and high-quality bars. Mixers must understand and practice all Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety and Personal Safety Policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of assigned equipment on the production line. Maintain proper safety conditions of equipment and of Company assets.
  • Ensure each recipe is mixed and processed without deviation. Closely monitor temperatures, processing time, ingredient types and amounts to ensure consistency and quality from bar-to-bar.
  • Accurately mix and blend in accordance with Master Mixing Instructions.
  • Perform adjustments to production equipment to run varied types of recipes and products.
  • Operate computer controls to monitor process flow status and automated processing equipment. Demonstrate proficiency of knowledge of process flow, receiving operations of large and small mixers, Extruding Processors, Cooling Systems, Flow Wrapper, Conveyors, Slab lines, Form and Fill and other packaging equipment. operations of Hobart and Peerless mixers
  • Complete assigned paperwork daily. Document all required operational checks. Properly date and sign all required charts, graphs, and paperwork.
  • Perform proper sanitation, sterilization, of equipment. Clean and sanitize machines to meet legal and quality standards. Maintain a clean, organized work area respecting GMP's.
  • Identify and correct equipment problems to maximize production efficiencies, and report potential equipment problems to maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of daily reports; product waste logs; process time, temperatures, pressures, settings, batches, and deviations.
  • Pre-stage ingredients for processing, including dividing ingredient batches into appropriate size lots. Properly weigh and label staged ingredients. Use scales and read/understand both English and Metric units (pounds and grams). Document lot numbers and quantities used.
  • Be an active participant in Team huddles and other Plant meetings by communicating timely and pertinent data when appropriate, and active involvement in analyzing, recommending, and implementing solutions to problems within the Production process.
  • Ensure a smooth shift change transition (i.e., communicate problems/issues regarding operating equipment, upcoming recipe changes, review quality inspections, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot routine machine issues resulting from jams, settings, requiring adjustments, or routine parts changed.
  • Comply with area Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Quality Assurance Parameters (QAPs), Good Manufacturing Process (GMPs) Procedures, and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Standards. Be knowledgeable in all required Quality Assurance checks and in HACCP related items.
  • Rotate positions with other Production Team Members. Cross-train on all Production equipment.
  • Communicate and follow YouBar’s food safety commitment practices
  • Other tasks as assigned by Manager

Skills, Essential Functions, and Qualifications:

  • High School or GED minimum
  • 1 or more years of food manufacturing experience
  • Must be able to work fast paced with a sense of urgency
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Work daily overtime and weekends as required
  • Able to meet all attendance requirements in accordance with Company’s Attendance Policy.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 30lbs consistently and up to 50lbs frequently.
  • Perform product change-overs on line and follow allergen procedures. Adhere to and promotes proper GMP’s.
  • Ability to stand 100% of the time.
  • Push/Pull. Bending/twisting frequently
  • Knowledge of red-zone a plus
  • Must be able to assemble and disassemble equipment for proper cleaning/sanitizing and operating per manufacture instructions.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and adhering to company standards.
  • Ability to work with shellfish, seafood, crustaceans, soy, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, milk, whey without incident.
