SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Provide counseling/client management services for individuals and groups. Trains volunteer recovery specialists; oversees interns as assigned; Lead process groups; Facilitate or teach Recovery Program process groups and assigned program classes. Complete all teamwork assignments.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Result Area #1: COUNSELING SERVICES FOR INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS

  • Will have an assigned case load, meeting with phase 1-3 resident’s weekly, phase 3&4 clients twice a month, or as needed.
  • Provides trauma therapy as needed or assists in arranging outside counseling to meet the trauma needs of the resident and children within the first 30 days.
  • Each client will have an individualized Recovery Plan, including specific goals and benchmarks that measures success towards Life Recovery; addressing addiction recovery, relapse prevention skills, physical, emotional, behavioral conditions, childhood trauma, vocational, legal, spiritual issues, and a plan to develop relationships outside of CWC that support recovery.
  • Recovery plans will be a collaborative process, involving the client and when appropriate, other professionals (CPS, Probation, etc.)
  • Clients written goals in their recovery plans are monitored and assessed regularly to evaluate and encourage ongoing growth/progress.
  • Attend scheduled treatment team meetings, presenting & reviewing resident caseload concerns, status reports, pass needs, and updates.
  • Biblical truth is fully-integrated into the recovery process.
  • Consistently maintains confidentiality in accordance with established Program Guidelines.
  • Supports our Genesis and Grace Guidelines in the care of all residents, utilizing these tools in counseling modalities.

Key Result Area #2: CLIENT MANAGEMENT

  • Participates in accountability and focus meetings when necessary; staff and residents are coordinated for caseload.
  • Assists in leading community meetings as assigned and actively participates in the self -evaluation process, presenting at least 1 personal self-evaluation per semester.
  • Individualized resident benchmarks are clearly identified and progress evaluated by mid-semester and at the end of each semester before a client is advanced to the next phase.
  • Regularly informs program team of changes in resident’s schedule, passes, work therapy, etc.
  • Case notes are accurate and provided to staff within 48 hours.
  • Client Files are accurate and up to date.
  • Department Statistics are maintained on a monthly basis.
  • Outside service providers are engaged in appropriate ways in the client’s recovery plan.
  • Regularly collaborates with client’s assigned case manager, child protective service workers, Out-side Counselor, Recovery Specialists, Work Therapy team, Teachers, Aftercare Team, etc.
  • Leads & supervises multilevel care of resident – case manager, recovery specialist, vocational education, work, therapy.
  • Client’s vocational and educational program requirements are completed and documented.
  • Ensures ongoing accountability in regard to resident’s money management.

Key Result Area #3: LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

  • UGM’s Core Values and their indicators are personally applied and observed.
  • LIFE Recovery Program is collaborating with Vocational Advancement and Aftercare to promote successful transition and continued recovery
  • A success matrix is maintained with meaningful statistics to substantiate the effectiveness of the ministries.
  • CWC Director is aware of all critical activities and concerns.
  • Participates in the Outcome Based Management Process, e.g. SWOT’s, SMART goals, One-on-one’s.
  • SMART WIGS (wildly important goals) are being identified and achieved that are effective in the life transformation of women and children.
  • Regular team building and planning meetings are attended to discuss the effectiveness of collaboration and programming.
  • Collaborates, assists, and participates in CWC residential activities (exp. Friday Fun, Holiday activities, etc.)

Key Result Area #4: OVERSEE CASE MANAGEMENT VOLUNTEERS

  • Supervise case management department, providing leadership and support for volunteers serving in the department.
  • Ensures that volunteers have a current job description with duties designed to contribute to the objectives of the Women’s Ministries.
  • Adequate time and resources are allocated to fully train new volunteers.
  • Meets with case-managers on a regular basis
  • Ensures appropriate documentation is being completed in a timely manner by case managers
  • Documents One-on-one’s with department volunteers on their Score Card

Key Result Area #5: TEAMWORK/COMMUNICATION

  • Healthy, affirming communication occurs with other staff and residents frequently.
  • Conflicts will be resolved using the Peace Maker tools.
  • Email correspondence will occur within 24 hours.
  • Participates in holding others and self-accountable and participates in self-evaluation process.
  • Comes to meetings prepared and with a positive, supportive attitude.
  • Other assigned duties are satisfactorily completed.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Committed Christian, able and willing to model servant-leadership and interested in being part of a ministry for the poor, homeless, drug addicted and mentally ill. Grounded in the Christian faith as a mature, active member of the body of Christ. In accordance with Union Gospel Mission Statement of Purpose, Statement of Vision and Statement of Faith.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills - exercise compassion and discernment while modeling the teachings of Jesus Christ.
  • As a unified team member, willing to honor the leadership, chain of command, and standards and ministry objectives of Union Gospel Mission.
  • Follows UGM policy regarding addressing and resolving conflict amongst team members, volunteers, & residents.
  • Know and able to communicate and embrace UGM’s cultural Core Values and their indicators. The Core Values are applied and observed
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook); able to complete documents, reports and accurately record information. Willing to continue education as needed or required.
  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and instructional.
  • Must have a teachable spirit and the ability manage multiple emotional and task related variables, listen, and make sound decisions in alignment with UGM’s purpose.
  • Minimum five years of sobriety, if in recovery.
  • Insightful, trustworthy, honest, reliable, model appropriate boundaries, maintains confidentiality and demonstrates strong work ethic.
  • Valid Washington or Idaho driver’s license– required.
  • CPR/First Aid certification – required.
  • Yearly TB clearance – required.
  • Criminal background check clearance – required.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:

Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%

  • Work is primarily indoors and may require climbing three flights of stairs, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and going from building to building - Continuously.
  • Requires working with a diverse population, many of whom struggle with homelessness, addiction and mental illness – continuously.
  • Requires a sustained level of high energy, stamina, and the ability to move about the facilities on a regular and ongoing basis – frequently.
  • Requires the ability to hear, see, and speak clearly – continuously.

EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED:

  • Computer (Word, Excel, Database, Outlook, Office 365, UKG Human Resources, Internet), Copier/printer, Phone, Fax, Breathalyzer, and Drug Testing Kit.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s Level Licensed Social Work or Mental Health Counselor – preferred.
  • 3+ year’s prior related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with chemical dependency, addiction recovery counseling & trauma therapy.
