LADC Residential Adolescent Substance Use Counselor Job at Day One

Four Day work week!

Looking for flexibility in your work week? How about 4 days on, 3 days off? Day one is looking for a full-time residential counselor for our Youth Residential Treatment program. Substance use counselors in this program must be able to engage and provide care, supervision, and counseling to the adolescent male residents in Day One’s New Gloucester Program on a regular basis as scheduled.

Clients demonstrate challenges with engagement and developing trustful relationships. Requires a special ability to break through and connect with adolescents struggling with substance use that may also have corrections involvment, challenging family dynamics, or a history of trauma.

General Summary:

Provide counseling, including assessment, treatment planning, group, individual, and family therapy, with an emphasis on providing substance use recovery groups. Maintains appropriate client records. Assesses for other needs and makes referrals as appropriate to community resources that support overall wellness and recovery. Clinical licensure required to provide substance use counseling. Additional mental health licensure is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide assessment and treatment planning for residential clients.
  • Provide individual, group, family counseling as indicated.
  • Collaborate with other treatment providers on care team.
  • Maintain all clinical records in accordance with agency, program, licensing, and clinical standards.
  • Provide client data necessary to fulfill contract and billing requirements.
  • Provide diagnosis clarification and understanding of substance use disorders. Have knowledge of how they impact treatment, and demonstrate the ability to set treatment goals accordingly.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Physical Environment:

Duties will primarily be performed Day One’s Residence in New Gloucester. Some travel is required to other Day One locations as well as to outside events.

Physical Effort:

Requirements and Skills Needed for Position:

  • LADC or CADC
  • Experience working with adolescents, groups, and families to address substance use.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed and/or directed by manager.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge and experience working with co-occurring disorders.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $51,000.00 - $59,000.00 per year
