Entry-Level Laborers with Growth Opportunities

Jamaica Cottage Shop, Inc. is a premier builder of fine post and beam buildings such as tool sheds, cottages, tiny homes, livestock shelters, storage sheds, & woodsheds. In need of several more go-getters in entry-level Production: Lumber Pullers, Tailors, Cubers.
General concept of basic math, good written/verbal communication skills, and be able to meet the physical demands and fast pace while adhering to all safety protocols. Reliable transportation required. Must be able to safely lift 50-75 lbs without issue or concern.
We will train the right candidates on how to read a speed square, tape measure, and cut list and supply safety glasses, ear plugs, and masks. Employees must have their own boots and weather-appropriate work wear.
  • Lumber Pullers: Just how it sounds – identifying and pulling lumber in preparation for other departments. If you can pick up a piece of lumber and put it down, we want you! No experience or tools necessary.
  • Tailors: Tailors perform all cuts that the computerized saw cannot. This includes layouts, trimming of rafters, ½ lap cuts, etc. Must have a general knowledge and basic understanding of carpentry. Advanced carpentry skills not required. Must be able to read, understand, and get directions from cut lists.
  • Cubers: Assemble the cut pieces and components that come down the line from the saw and the tailors (“cube” the kit), sticker each piece, and strap the final kit. No cutting necessary.
Hours are currently 7 am-4:30 pm EST Monday - Friday.
