The Novelis Clayton, NJ facility is seeking to add a talented Compactor Operator. The purpose of this role is to safely, efficiently, and effectively provide palletized aluminum blocks by operating compactor equipment.

The Novelis Clayton, NJ facility is seeking to add a talented Compactor Operator. The purpose of this role is to safely, efficiently, and effectively provide palletized aluminum blocks by operating compactor equipment.
Evening shift position (6pm – 6am) with starting hourly rate $16.69, top rate in three months $17.35, plus applicable shift premium of $0.75.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains a safe working environment by complying with Novelis EHS standards and policies, all state and federal regulations, and company policies and procedures. Keeps compactor area and workstation organized and maintains good housekeeping standards at all times.
- Prepares aluminum scrap by operating compactor equipment and palletizing compacted aluminum blocks.
- Transports palletized aluminum by operating forklifts.
- Supports and participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintains accurate, legible and timely records by completing paperwork.
- Completes Preventative Maintenance Requirements by inspecting equipment for potential problems and, if necessary, report any issues to Supervisor to ensure corrective action/maintenance work order is completed.
- Maintains product quality by ensuring proper alloy disposition and following organizational ISO9001:2015 standards.
- Provides support as required to the operation by performing other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent- Perform basic math calculations
- Perform lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated forklift experience, preferred
- Must be able to work any hours, overtime, weekends and holidays as scheduled/required
Built in 1970 the Clayton facility employs more than 100 people and engages in a re-rolling and finishing operation that supplies foil and light-gauge non-heat treatable aluminum coiled sheet and products including semi-rigid formed container stock HVAC standard and automotive fin stock pharmaceutical closure stock spiral duct stock and distribution.
