TECHNICAL MANAGER

JOB PURPOSE:

This team provides lab testing services (primarily to the Marine industry). With solutions based on years of expertise, innovation, and advanced analytical capabilities, we help customers with routine testing services and help them resolve difficult technical challenges.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the Technical Manager, you will be required to assist with Technical enquiries from the client and the lab and help with problem solving. You will also work with a team to ensure that the laboratory activities and testing services of our full service Petroleum Laboratory are running smoothly.  This position will work business hours and will be available on off hours to provide direction or customer support as needed.

• Oversee the Technical Queries and Problems with the Lab team and provide solutions to client for marine problems
• Monitor the performance of the team
• Familiarity and expertise of requirements including flag, classification and port state for services provided by the organization
• Assist in the generation of technical proposals and cost estimates.
• Work with sales team to contribute to business growth.
• Resolve customer complaints to the full satisfaction of the customer.
• Communicate plans, status, and issues to higher management levels.
• Provide general peer to peer training support to those new to department
• Collaborate with product stakeholders to translate business problem statements into technical solutions.
• Hire, train, supervise and evaluate technical and support staff; determine work schedules and work assignments; recommend staffing levels.
• Seek new business and embody the Company’s core value of Customer problem solving to all customers
• Investigate, find the root cause and follow up on non-conformances, implement preventative actions and appropriate corrective actions.

QUALIFICATIONS

• PRE-REQUISITE – Maritime Industry Background (with Sailing Experience) with minimum 7 to 10 years’ experience
• The individual must possess strong managerial experience and interpersonal skills, as well as technical and theoretical knowledge of marine operations.
• Marine Engineering Degree or equivalent preferred
• Strong analytical, organizational, and creative thinking skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• The ability to understand and follow company policies and procedures.
• The ability to work under pressure.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
