RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Organizes and directs food service functions
  • Supervises food service staff directly, which includes the Food Service Coordinator, and direct care staff who are assigned to work in the dining room/kitchen.
  • Completes monthly inspections to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures including Pennsylvania regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates activities of the food service department with other departments.
  • Makes assignment schedules, including vacation approvals and arranging for appropriate coverage.
  • Determines all cost of food service operations and adheres to the established budget for the food service department.
  • Prepares seasonal menus and submits to the dietician for approval. All menus should be posted accordingly. Substitutions should only be made when necessary.
  • Assists in Dining Room serving as needed.
  • Consults with the Managing Director on vendors and suppliers.
  • Purchases or directs the purchase of food service supplies, raw food, and equipment.
  • Ensures the proper storage of food and other supplies.
  • Processes invoices associated with department for payment.
  • Ensures the proper training of all food service staff. Conducts in-service meetings and training programs for food service personnel and meets monthly with food service coordinator to discuss areas of concern, ongoing issues, and necessary training.
  • Ensures the proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment in the food service department and completes the proper maintenance and housekeeping requisitions for this service.
  • Maintains adequate department records, for food service statistics, costs, and inventory control.
  • Attends meetings with staff and Residents as needed.
  • Conducts quarterly food service committee meetings & prepares minutes. Submit minutes to the Managing Director in a timely manner for the QA notebook.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with the Department of Agriculture / Department of Human Services
  • ServSafe certification
  • Previous cooking experience for large groups


WORK SCHEDULE

  • Every third weekend 6:30am-6:30pm
  • Shifts vary between 6:30a-2:30pm, 10:30am-6:00pm, 9:00am-5:00pm
