Job Description
Position Summary
Monitors end executing activities related to IT Systems and Network. Implements changes to network, including equipment installation, software rollouts, upgrades and patching in a manner to minimize disruption of business operations. Monitors performance and identifies opportunities for optimization of network. Monitors activity in system and reports concerns to Director of IT. Responsible for effective provisioning, configuration, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Zoo’s various software applications, including point-of-sale (POS) systems and associated external programs. Supports all IT functions as assigned by Director of IT.

Your day to day
Essential Functions (including but not limited to):
  • Conducts all activities in alignment with AZA standards and guidelines, all relevant laws and regulations, safety standards, and standards that ensure animal welfare.
  • Leads planning, development and execution of assigned initiatives.
  • Participates in coaching and developing the IT team to encourage knowledge and leadership growth.
  • Performs diagnostics of network and other IT issues, provides support for service desk staff.
  • Updates and maintains network documentation, assigns IP addresses, and saves device configurations.
  • Configures network devices for new deployments per direction of Director of IT, and configures replacement network devices from backup configuration files.
  • Assists with administration and maintenance of IP based telephony systems, such as provisioning handsets, setting up extensions, supporting user requests.
  • Assists in supporting applications, application servers, and virtual infrastructure.
  • Sets up access permissions, configures firewalls, and resets passwords.
  • Administers access rights and permissions as required by the business.
  • Builds/sets up computer networks by physically installing, connecting and configuring equipment and software, including security software and protections.
  • In an unplanned outage, responds calmly and rapidly to diagnose and execute repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Ensures users/customers are provided professional, courteous, and timely support and service.
  • Coordinates with users to ensure satisfactory configuration and usage of software and hardware programs.
  • Enforces procedures and policies as outlined to safeguard data and software programs. Tracks, verifies, and reports other data as assigned. Participates in required IT upgrades and updates.
  • Provides excellent internal and external guest service at all times. Enforces and ensures all software and hardware policies and procedures in a professional, appropriate, and courteous manner.
  • Installs and implements software purchased from outside vendors, coordinating with various Zoo departments to ensure departmental needs are met and organizational policies are followed.
  • Conducts audits of various applications to ensure efficiency, program documentation, proper use, compliance with established guidelines, and integrity and security of applications.
  • Develops, implements, and enforces procedures and policies for various applications. Tracks, verifies, and reports other data as necessary. Monitors activity and reports concerns to Director of IT.
  • Leads development and training of POS system and other applications. Regularly provides advice and recommend actions involving these systems.
  • As assigned, coordinates with both internal and external contacts in the field to ensure all manuals, procedures, and training materials reflect latest and best practices.
  • Ensures company and regulatory compliance related to functional areas of responsibility. Enhances, develops, implements, and enforces policies and procedures of functional areas of responsibility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What are we looking for?
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems, peripherals, and communications equipment.
  • Working knowledge of computer networking and cabling infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of communications systems for data, voice, and video.
  • Point of Sale experience. Galaxy, PixelPoint, Counterpoint preferred
  • Knowledge of database systems including Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Must be proficient with Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook and be able to adapt well to various other software computer programs.
  • Two to three years of computer system control and maintenance, or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of system software and hardware security safeguards.
  • Ability to write technical documentation and training materials.
  • Demonstrated experience in applications management.
  • Demonstrated experience in compliance, record keeping, project management, or related field.
  • Some specialized training in hospitality industry is preferred.
  • Must be able to maintain absolute discretion regarding information and knowledge obtained through management of ZooTampa.
  • Quality control: demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work and the work of others to ensure quality.
  • Safety and security: observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.

Responsibilities:
  • Support managed LAN and WAN Network Infrastructure Hardware
  • Support Wireless Network and end-device configuration / replacement
  • Support the managed Supplier Network
  • Support VOIP phones
  • Perform and Support Network Change Controls as required
  • Maintain network and device documentation
  • Troubleshoot all network incidents and device issues
  • Perform HP, Juniper and Cisco switch, AP configuration / replacement
  • Configure network switch ports for IT devices
  • Support infrastructure project work you're leading
  • Complete network ticket requests
  • Maintain IP addresses
  • Manage assigned network projects
  • Maintain asset management for Network equipment including network spares
  • Maintain all monitoring tools to ensure all devices are being monitored & notifications in place
  • Weekly team meetings
  • Tracking equipment of all kinds through tickets
Requirements:
  • CISCO Network Experience
  • Customer Service skills
  • Manufacturing Experience
  • Minimum 2+ years of IT experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
  • Experience including WAN/LAN and wireless areas of experience
  • All IT Operations Specialist Education or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience in comprehensive network services and networks
  • In-depth experience and practical knowledge of networking systems including WAN, LAN, firewalls, routers, switches, servers, APs and IT end devices
Desired Competencies/Skills:
  • Experienced with Cisco routers, switches, and wireless access points
  • Experienced with Layer 1-4 Switching and Routing troubleshooting skills
  • Experienced with wireless systems
  • Experienced with IT Security implementations
  • Experienced with networking tools
  • Experienced with VLANs, NAT/PAT, VPNs, IPSec, and TCP/IP protocols
  • Experienced with data, video, and voice services
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to use radio, telephone, and computer to communicate and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions typical to west central Florida (i.e., heat, rain, or cold).
  • Must be willing and able to work varied and long shifts including holidays and weekends.
  • Must be able to plan for, work, and staff specials events and exhibits as well as be available for unexpected shifts.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, bending, standing and walking.
