Job Summary:
The Jewelry Specialist identifies, tests, and prices jewelry to be sold in stores and online platforms. Provides training to jewelry team members on the proper procedures and methods for sorting, identifying, testing, and pricing jewelry.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Supervises the sorting of all donated jewelry, identifying items of value and ensuring that Goodwill receives maximum value for those items.
  • Secures all jewelry items received for processing.
  • Orders supplies to process the jewelry.
  • Designates the disposition of all jewelry items (E-commerce sales, scrap sales, return to store, etc.).
  • Responsible for the quality and effectiveness of E-commerce sales to include photos and descriptions to ensure maximum return for listed items.
  • Ensures that the stores are supplied with jewelry that is properly processed, prepared, and priced.
  • Trains and coaches team members.
  • Replaces watch batteries when needed.
  • Achieves online sales goals and store production goals.
  • Stays abreast of trends and categories within area of expertise.
  • Ensures that housekeeping, safety, and security is maintained, reporting all needed repairs, problems and/or hazards immediately.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to speak/read/write proficient English.
  • Strong knowledge of computer use, familiarity with online sales vendors and related software programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office strongly preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and complete understanding of each Jewelry Team Member’s job functions.
  • Able to identify time period, material, and quality of item and describe for online.
  • Ability to identify precious stones, metals, watches, estate jewelry, antique jewelry of numerous different types; Ability to identify brand name products and collectables.
  • Knowledge of watch industry pricing and authenticity.
  • Ability to research internet to determine fair market value of product.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to attend additional classes/trainings to further knowledge in the jewelry/watch industry.
  • Works well under pressure and with deadlines; ability to multitask.
  • Excellent time management skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Honesty, integrity, reliability, punctuality.
  • Thorough knowledge about company’s mission and services.
  • Uphold compliance with all legal, health, and safety guidelines.
Required Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Gemologist certification from an accredited Gemological Institution or program required.
  • Minimum one year experience in selling vintage and/or fine jewelry. E-commerce jewelry sales preferrable.
  • Minimum one-year supervisory experience.
  • Must have a jewelry background with the ability to identify precious stones, metals, watches, estate jewelry and antique jewelry of numerous different types.
Physical Requirements:
  • Free from drug and alcohol abuse.
  • Stand for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Visual acuity.
  • Color vision.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Ability to bend/squat/stoop.
  • Ability to lift/pull/push 25 lbs.
