A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A JANITOR / COMMERCIAL CLEANER

As a Janitor / Commercial Cleaner, you keep our facility looking good. You arrive for each janitorial shift ready to get to work cleaning. You enjoy "getting in the zone" and working efficiently but are also friendly and service-oriented. Whether it's dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, sanitizing, or restocking resident rooms and offices, you get great satisfaction out of checking off tasks.

You remove the trash and transport it to the appropriate disposal areas. As needed, you help out with laundry and light maintenance tasks like changing a light bulb. You always keep your cleaning equipment organized and in good working order. At the end of each cleaning shift, you feel proud seeing everything shine!

WORK SCHEDULE FOR A JANITOR / COMMERCIAL CLEANER

This janitorial position offers both full- and part-time schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A JANITOR / COMMERCIAL CLEANER

Minimum Requirements

• Must have a High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must have Municipality of Anchorage Food Handlers Card or ServSafe contingent upon 30 days of hire.
• Must have at least six (6) months of experience in the food service industry.
• Must have at least some combination of formal documented training, education, or experience which demonstrates an interest in or a suitability for this type of work.
• Must pass a fingerprinting background investigation that complies with The Crime Control Act, Child Care Worker Act, and the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
• Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.
• Proof of immunization for measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), varicella (chicken pox), TB, and any other immunizations and screenings designated in the current ANTHC Employee Health Program for Infection Control in Hospital Personnel.
• Contract requires candidate to get a flu shot pre-hire and annually thereafter.
• Contractor may be required to maintain all employee health records on site.
• This contract requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last dose). If you are not fully vaccinated please acknowledge that, in order to be hired, you must be fully vaccinated or have a client/company-approved exemption.

Background Requirement:

Level One : An individual is ineligible to work in any position that has Regular Contact with or Control over Children, Dependent Adults or Vulnerable Persons if the individual has been convicted of:

• One or more felonies and/or two or more misdemeanors of crimes against persons or crimes of violence
• Any crime against a child, dependent adult, or vulnerable person, regardless of its classification as a felony, misdemeanor, or another type of offense
• Any sex crime, regardless of its classification as a felony, misdemeanor, or another type of offense
• Murder

Preferred Qualifications

• Six (6) months of customer service experience
• Six (6) months of cashier experience

Description of environment: This is an industrial hospital kitchen located in a healthcare setting.

Physical requirements: Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
