Position Description

The IT Field Service Technician is responsible for providing support to clients, both remotely and most often on-site, to perform on-site support and help with client technical assessments. Travel includes locations mostly within the Detroit metropolitan tri-county area.

The position will primarily support clients onsite, but also by phone and email, sometimes resolving client issues through direct access to end user devices. This position will be involved with IT networking (firewall and VPN troubleshooting, server and workstation connectivity issues, and PC support.

Primary day-to-day Responsibilities

  • Work as an extension of our support team, onsite interacting with clients, deploying hardware, troubleshooting, and occasionally assisting on project work.
  • Clearly documenting client issues and contact information
  • Assist with unpacking and staging of end-user devices
  • Assist with troubleshooting end-user devices
  • Scheduled onsite visits with end-users
  • Reviewing tickets and other work for errors or duplication
  • Assist in updating and maintaining documentation in knowledge base
  • Assist with various projects as experience and availability allow
  • Become proficient in various SaaS platforms and other relevant applications
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Abilities

  • Must have acumen and interest in technology
  • Technology classes, certifications, coursework or equivalent preferred
  • Prior service desk experience or support of end-users is preferred
  • Exceptional client relations skills in listening, being empathetic, and verbal communication
  • Strong writing skills – particularly in email communication (concise/clear communication, spelling, punctuation, grammar)
  • Ability to function best when working with a team
  • Experience working directly with clients (senior and end-user)
  • Former supervisors would describe you using words similar to: “works best with a team”; “dots the I’s and crosses the T’s” and “works well in high pressure environment”

Classification & Compensation

  • This is a full time, salaried and exempt position
  • The salary range varies, depending on experience, skills, abilities, and length of service with the Company
  • Knowledge of Apple products (iMacs, MacBook’s, iPhones), Operating Systems (Mac OS, iOS) preferred
  • Prior experience with Managed Service Provider technologies
  • Ability to work at client sites - you are not designated to one site or client, rather, you'll be on-site weekly with a variety of clients
  • This position requires the ability to work on site at our main office as well as onsite at client locations. Most clients are in SE Michigan.

We have a comprehensive benefit package and the starting salary range is likely in the 45K-55K range based on experience.
