Job Description
The third level of the Information Technology Series is responsible for directing the activities of the Information Technology Department to ensure the quality and efficiency of service delivery and compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and County policies and procedures. Responsibilities may include supervising staff; developing policy and procedures; preparing and managing the department"s budget; managing the process of identifying information system hardware and software options for both data and voice systems; including the integration of new systems with current systems. Job Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Directs IT Department staff to include prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained and that they follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions.
Develops department policies, procedures, operations, and projects; develops staffing plans; provides technical direction in designing, planning, and managing all departmental information technology functions; and manages the process of identifying information system hardware and software options for both data and voice systems, to include integrating new systems with current systems.
Establishes and manages budgets for the IT department; manages County IT purchasing, invoicing, and budgeting.
Coordinates with internal and external staff, departments, and/or agencies; serves on committees; and attends a variety of meetings to represent the department on policy or regulatory matters, resolve operational and personnel issues, respond to complex and escalated complaints, provide professional assistance, and/or facilitate related project or departmental operations.
Evaluates, installs, repairs, and maintains the County network, and hardware and software equipment, systems, applications, and programs; implements network security measures; troubleshoots network, hardware, and software-related issues; and ensures all operations comply with applicable standards, requirements, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Enters, updates, researches, compiles, and analyzes information, utilizing professional knowledge and skills, to prepare, review, and maintain reports, records, contracts, and other documentation; reviews documentation prepared by staff; and ensures informational accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Education and/or Experience

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field and three years information technology experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Physical Requirements
Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
Incumbents may be expected to travel to external locations/organizations. Incumbents may be exposed to hazardous physical conditions, such as, mechanical parts, electrical currents, and vibrations. Additional Information
SALARY RANGE: $33.32 - $44.78
