Ironworker I-III has heavy industrial experience as an Ironworker and is skilled in all aspects of safe structural component assembly and maintenance including welding, fabrication, and stress relieving. Experienced in rigging practices, to lift and move equipment or material on construction site. An Ironworker Journeyman I is also knowledgeable in oxyfuel cutting, identifying and installing iron and supports, and able to read structural drawings and detail sheets.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
Careful initial planning of the job to be carried out, reading and following erection drawings/plans.
Sets up hoisting equipment.
Raises and places structural-steel members with basic rigging knowledge for raising and placing structural steel members.
Fastens steel members to cable of hoist using chain, cable or rope.
Signals worker operating hoisting equipment to lift and place steel members.
Guides member, using tag line in order to guide it into position.
Pulls, pushes or pries steel members into approximate position while member is supported by hoisting device.
Forces members into final position, using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks and hand tools.
Aligns bolt holes in steel member using drift pins or spud wrenches.
Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of members using plumb bob and level.
Bolts aligned members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted or welded in place.
Cuts and welds steel members to make alterations using oxyacetylene welding equipment and supplies.
Loads, transports, unloads material, tools, equipment and supplies.
May assist in lifting, positioning and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
Using cranes to lift and guide individual steel components into position.
Knowledge on crane signals
Accurately aligning and leveling each steel component into place before bolting and welding them into fixed positions
Using mobile elevated work platforms, ladders, lifts as the structure gains height to access sections off the ground
Laying metal decking and installing safety railing as the structure is built up.

Qualifications:
Experience
Formal education/degree/certificate in construction, technical or trade school such as NCCER Certification
4 Years of Ironwork Experience
Desirable
Read ISO's, Blueprints, P&ID's
NCCER Knowledge Certified
NCCER + in Ironwork

Physical Demands/ Essential Functions
Work Environment
Large amounts of standing, walking, bending, climbing, squatting and lifting.
Will talk and hear to communicate.
Work from heights. Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull: objects, materials, controls and tools.
Give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand directions.
May be required to lift up to 50Lb, carry and move objects safely. Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work from platforms.
Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.
Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
Must have working knowledge of structural welding, use of cutting torches and working knowledge of all aspects of the iron worker's craft.

Will work in all weather conditions ranging from warm/hot – cool/cold. Occasional rain.
Will work at different elevations.
Dusty environment.
Noise levels will be moderate to high.
Job site will contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools.
People standing, walking, sitting, signalling and talking.
Bells, whistles and alarms.
