Inventory Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Inventory Manager is responsible for managing a small inventory team and ensuring the hospital remains stocked with necessary supplies and equipment. This includes the ordering, counting, and tracking of medical equipment, non-medical equipment, and medications (including controlled substances), submitting expenses in a timely fashion, managing a budget, and working closely with suppliers and vendors.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Inventory Operations Manager is responsible for implementing and sustaining inventory and supply chain systems, while adhering to standard operating procedures, to ensure business objectives are achieved.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Responsible for the implementation of and adherence to established inventory and supply chain systems.
  • Interfaces with multiple organizational levels and disciplines to review and analyze inventory.
  • Responsible for analyzing data and reports related to ordering, storage, issuing, receiving, and shipping.
  • Responsible for ensuring optimal inventory levels are maintained to prevent disruptions in business operations.
  • Responsible for identifying and resolving delivery and execution roadblocks serving as point of contact for airing concerns.
  • Manages and controls inventory stock counting and inventory accuracy checks. Manages controlled drug logs, ordering controlled substances and returning wasted stock in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring that overstocks are minimized, and redundant and obsolete materials are removed.
  • Creates and manages weekly schedule and daily task assignments for direct reports.
  • Conduct internal inventory audits quarterly. Required to work 4 Saturdays per year.
  • Deals with escalated situations related to inbound and outbound deliveries.
  • Supervises deliveries or pickup of materials from 3rd party vendors.
  • Maintains a safe work environment.
  • Monitors and maintains department standards for productivity, reliability, and accuracy.
  • Trains, motivates, coaches, rewards, and addresses performance for direct reports.
  • Provides first level approval for time off requests, timesheets, and overtime.
  • Attends weekly management meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree – Supply Chain Management (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years inventory control/management experience (required).
  • Prior experience implementing an inventory system, standard operating procedures, and control over inventory within multiple departments (required).
