This is a regular, non-standard full-time position in the University Center for Social and Urban Research. Evening and weekend hours are required, remote work available after training.

Duties include:

1. Conducting structured and semi structured research interviews via phone following established research and study protocols.

2. Assisting in redesigning and implementing training materials for all temporary employees.

3. Assist in various data entry projects.

4. Assist in clerical and technical tasks associated with the survey process.

This position requires the Incumbent be able to systematize the research to ensure the highest quality data. Additionally, the Incumbent must be able to quality control the data collection using existing survey and data entry software and established web sites and databases. Incumbent will perform daily quality control and data management for grant-based research projects brought to the Center by various University and community researchers. Each project includes its own data requirements and set completion deadlines. Incumbent will be required to use all basic office equipment including, but not limited to, computers, data collection software, data bases, web pages, copiers, FAX, and multi-line phone systems. All research data is handled via established HIPAA guidelines. Incumbent is required to complete University training and certification on HIPAA, Human Subjects, and Research Integrity procedures via on-line module training. In addition, a portion of the studies conducted by the survey research team deal with even more sensitive subjects or information. These studies require additional layers of data management using established FISMA guidelines.

The Incumbent will be required to understand and adhere to these requirements and standards. Incumbent is required to ensure that these established standards are implemented by all involved in the data collection process. At least one year experience and basic knowledge of research procedures required. High school diploma plus additional relevant experience may be substituted for associate degree. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and computer experience required. Must have excellent attention to detail. Incumbent must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. Fluency in Spanish speaking would be a plus. Excellent typing skills preferred.

Department Details The University Center for Social and Urban Research (UCSUR) provides survey research services through the Survey Research Program (SRP). SRP maintains a highly experienced staff of survey professionals, trained interviewers, and data management specialists. SRP services are available to faculty, staff, and students throughout the University and to local, state, and federal agencies and others working in the public interest. SRP is able to carry out any or all phases of a survey research project, including sample design, questionnaire design, data collection, data processing, statistical analysis, and reporting. SRP staff have the training and experience to design scientifically valid studies customized to client research needs. SRP can help to clarify study objectives and provide advice on how to obtain the highest quality data within available resource constraints.
