Job Summary

Bechtel is seeking an Instrumentation & Control Systems (I&CS) Engineer for the Mining & Metals team, based in Houston, TX. This role will report to the Instrumentation & Control Systems Engineering Group Supervisor (EGS); he/she will be responsible for the design and specification of general instrumentation, valves and DCS/PLC based control systems. The Role will provide I&CS engineering and design support to Bechtel project seamless with high quality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering deliverables such as Instrument List, Datasheets, Control Schematics, Specifications, Material Requisitions, Datasheets, Calculations, bid evaluations among others in compliance with project requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
• Prepare and review of I&CS specification, data sheets, material requisitions and technical evaluations for key I&CS equipment required for each project facility location.
• Provide I&CS support to the mechanical and electrical packages.
• Prepare preliminary design drawings and assist with the Distributed Control System design.
• Ensure the timely preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals, including problem analysis and review of design.
• Develop the instrument indexes, set points schedules and Input/Output (I/O) schedules using Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI).
• Prepare data sheets for field equipment such as Level, Temperature, Pressure and Flow applications, Analysers and Analyser systems, Control Valves, ESD Valves, MOVs and Relief Valves among others.
• Provide I&CS markups on P&IDs.
• Perform the work under observance of Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Bechtel design guides, appropriate Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAPs) and administrative practices.
• Prepare preliminary design drawings and assist with the Process Control System design.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) in Control Systems/Instrumentation or Electrical engineering, and a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience. Possesses either a recognized degree in electrical, electronic, automation, or similar engineering from an accredited university.
• Previous experience working in a multidiscipline team with an understanding of I&CS engineering deliverables.
• Intermediate level of understanding of process control is required in order to validate Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) development and Control Narrative documents.
• Intermediate knowledge of database management, preferably using SmartPlant Instrumentation, to manage I&CS discipline data and to produce deliverables associated with instrument indexes, data sheets, loop diagrams among others.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical knowledge in at least one of following: P&ID Development, Control Automation Systems (ICSS, DCS, SIS, F&G), SIL Calculations, HAZOP/LOPA, Cause & Effect Narratives, Control Interlocks, Cyber Security, Functional Safety, Control Valves, Analyzer/Metering Systems, Instrumentation Design, Remote I/O Design.
