Due to organizational growth, California Steel Industries, Inc. is in search for an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic. Job responsibilities include:

TYPICAL POSITION DUTIES:

• Installs, services, repairs and dismantles all equipment, using hand and power tools: installs and maintains equipment and building structures in good condition.
• Inspects equipment to determine need for repairs and foresee difficulties. Checks equipment by sight, sound, or measurements and tests with instruments to determine amount of wear, lubrication and broken parts.
• Repair, lubrication and water systems, pipes, lines, hoses and valves. Paints parts and equipment as needed.
• Diagnoses mechanical failures or faulty operation of equipment. Consults drawings and specifications and determines procedure to be used for repairs.
• Utilizes the service of overhead cranes, jacks, wedges, rope and chain blocks, etc. for lifting heavy parts. Operates cranes, man lifts and mobile equipment as required.
• Repairs or replaces worn or broken parts using all hand tools common to all trades. Resets, tightens, and adjusts parts which have loosened or moved out of adjustment.
• Installs or assists in the installation of new equipment. Makes adjustments, tests and places new equipment in proper condition for operation.
• Performs gas & electric welding, cutting, pipefitting and machining duties as necessary to repair and maintain equipment.
• Fills out form reports pertaining to inspection and repair of equipment. Works with line operators and electrical maintenance crews as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Ø High school diploma or GED

Ø Minimum of 3 years experience in a manufacturing/Industrial environment as a Mechanic.

(Related Armed Services experience is acceptable)

Ø Valid drivers license

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Ø Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, lubrication, and blueprint reading.

Ø Certified Welder

Pay: $35.20 - $40.98 per hour
