Position Summary

Determines the most effective means for the organization to use capital, equipment, energy, facilities, information, material, people, and other assets to make a product or service the customer in the most optimized and efficient manner. Plans utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel to improve efficiency of operations. Studies product or service and its requirements, using mathematical methods such as operations research and/or LSS, to meet those requirements and design operational, manufacturing and information systems. Designs management control systems to aid in financial planning and cost analysis. Reviews functional statements, organizational charts, and project information to determine functions and responsibilities of workers and work units and to identify areas of duplication.


Responsibilities

  • Drive change through focused efforts to higher levels of performance in safety, quality, operations, cost and growth each and every day
  • Effectively utilizing lean and engineering methodologies, tools, root cause analysis and waste reduction with a bias for action
  • This position supports operations and reports to the VP Operations
  • Effective facilitation and execution Value Stream Maps & potential Kaizen Events through all stages (A3 charter ideation / creation, pre-work identification and completion, delivery of results in Kaizen week, regular follow up and follow through on sustainment)
  • Independently identifies process gaps, recommends and implements process improvement
  • Management of the lean transformational activities and projects at one large customer account or multiple customer accounts, directing the assessment, development, launch and continuous improvement activities related to specific business and day-to-day frontline associate interface and implementation of lean at the site
  • Maintain and develop process workflows and ensure processes are accounted for in optimization tools
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Industrial Engineering Software Platforms that support the continuous improvement projects developed
  • Assist with developing best practices for each job function in operations
  • Reduce variation within work tasks to improve process efficiency, quality and customer satisfaction
  • Coach process owners on how to use engineering and Lean methods to achieve operational excellence
  • Work with IT and outside software companies throughout the design, development, testing, and implementation of any project being tested.


Qualifications

  • Warehouse Engineering: Proficiency with: Product Slotting, Distribution Center MHE, Studying Labor Standards (time studies), Distribution Layouts and optimization of flow, Warehouse Metrics, Headcount rationalization and forecasting, Data Profiling, Working with ambiguous data sets and customer requirements to develop a Supply Chain Solution, WMS Functionality and Processes required to implement engineering designs/solutions/proposals Aptitude to learn a new business and systems
  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment, capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills
  • Data acquisition through SQL or Business Intelligence Tools ability/aptitude to access reports and build/ manipulate queries
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Solid problem solving and analytical skills especially as it relates to systems.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills: demonstrated ability to articulate issues and provide information on a timely basis.
  • Flexibility with work schedule; available to work after hours, weekends and some travel.


Previous experience necessary:

  • Bachelor's degree required Engineering with a minimum of 5- 8 years relevant work experience
  • 5-8 years or more minimum of related experience in the Distribution, Warehousing and/or Manufacturing, Transportation, Supply Chain Logistics industry is required
