With multiple offices around the globe, this position is located in our Orlando office.

We have an immediate opportunity for an Incoming Quality Inspector on our first shift (7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) to provide support by performing Mechanical & Visual inspection on all incoming material from outside sources, as well as in house machine shop product.

Job Functions/Requirements:

  • Approve incoming material and in-process production by conforming specification: conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
  • Approve finished products by confirming specification; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work
  • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; inputting data into quality database
  • Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repair when needed
  • Is responsible for F-first A-article I-inspection of all mechanical dimensions
  • Accomplish quality and organization mission by completing related tests as needed. Perform mechanical and functional inspection using various measurement tools, including, but not limited to, Talysurf, Electro-etch, Zygo, New View, Optical Comparator, Microscope, Digital Calipers, Micrometer, Ultra-Sonic Cleaner, height indicator, printer/scanner, computer, and other tools as required
  • Determine product/service quality acceptability and compliance to Standard Procedures and drawings. This may include, but is not limited to: lenses, molds, holders, fixtures, rings, and other company products for first runs, qualification, acceptance standards, etc.
  • Maintain proper files for completed paperwork
  • Clean machined products per process work instructions
  • Write Non-Conformances when necessary
  • Comply with policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements per the LightPath Quality System
  • Perform inventory counts as needed; daily, monthly or quarterly
  • Follow the 5S program guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Demonstrate attention to detail, flexibility, and credibility
  • Frequently required to sit, use hands or fingers to handle, feel, reach, talk and hear
  • Occasional standing, walking, or stooping required
  • Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Occasional exposure to the following: moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and risk of radiation
  • Ability to work with a moderate amount of noise
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in English
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Five (5) years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of experience and education
