JOB DESCRIPTION


Information Technology Associate


GOAL:
The job of the IT Associate is to provide excellent customer service for students, staff, and teachers by responding to help desk requests in a timely manner, repairing and maintaining district computer and A/V equipment, and answering questions to ensure the smooth operation of computer hardware and software in the district.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Valid Nebraska Driver’s License
  • Hardware/software troubleshooting skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Verbal communication and technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate with users of varying knowledge levels.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of Windows operating systems (Windows 10).


REPORTS TO:
Instructional Technology Coordinator


SUPERVISES:
None.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • 12-month position with accumulated sick leave and vacation time.
  • Hourly pay with an average 40 hour week, as well as approved overtime.
  • Benefits include single health and dental insurance, LTD, paid sick leave and Life Insurance.


EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation and Support Services Personnel.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:


For Help Desk:

  • Respond promptly to help desk requests.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Windows hardware and software issues.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Chromebook hardware and software issues.
  • Reassign help desk requests as needed.
  • Assist other team members as requested and needed.
  • Install and maintain district A/V equipment including projectors, speaker systems, document cameras, and other interactive peripherals.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory database of computer and A/V equipment in the district.
  • Install software and updates as needed.
  • Provision, configure, inventory, and deploy new equipment.
  • Repair or coordinate warranty service for district computers and A/V equipment
  • Deprovision and arrange recycling of retired equipment and remove it from inventory.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of work performed
  • Help to build a knowledge repository for administration, users, and other technicians (FAQ).


Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities


SKILLS are required to perform multiple concurrent tasks with a need to regularly upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: use of small hand tools, fine motor skills, attention to detail and care when disassembling and reassembling equipment, identify root causes and propose effective solutions, decipher and follow installation guides, provide clear and accurate documentation of work performed.


KNOWLEDGE required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: technical knowledge of Windows 10 operating system and built-in troubleshooting tools; intermediate knowledge of spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and other productivity software; basic troubleshooting processes; basic understanding of enterprise networks; identify computer components.


ABILITY is required to evaluate needs and prioritize tasks; complete complex tasks efficiently and by the required deadline; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing a variety of complex processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. In working with others, problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires analysis based on organizational objectives; and problem solving with equipment is extensive. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; working with constant and sustained interruptions; working with detailed information/data.


Responsibility


Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives; directing other persons within a small work unit; and supervising the use of funds. Utilization of significant resources from other work units is sometimes required to perform the job's functions. Essential Functions


The essential functions of the attendance administrative assistant position include: (1) regular, dependable attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the identified work activities; and, (3) the ability to perform the identified physical requirements as outlined in working environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to lift and pull or push articles up to 50 pounds. He/she sits most of the time but must walk frequently and, at times, stand. The employee is required to reach with his/her hands and continuously to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times as in typing. Manual and finger dexterity are essential to the job. He/she is constantly working to meet deadlines with severe time restraints. He/she must see and read fine print such as typed or handwritten materials and have good depth perception (fine muscle control). The employee must, also, be able to hear conversation in a noisy environment and to communicate clearly and concisely through speech.

  • Limited travel may be requirement to fulfill the requirements of this position. District required travel must be pre-approved by an immediate supervisor and will be reimbursed per district policy.


  • Employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave. Overtime may be required and must be approved by the direct supervisor.


Over time is paid at time and a half for over 40 hours per week.
