The Human Resources (HR) Specialist role is responsible for providing support to the Human Resources Department, predominately with essential HR functions such as Payroll processing, Leaves of Absence (LOA), FMLA, New Hire onboarding, and Orientation, State Disability, Unemployment Insurance Claims, and Recruiting.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent service to members and team members.
  • Personally uses Service Standards in every work-related interaction.
  • Exhibits strong rapport and works closely with Managers and Team Members to enhance working relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Maintains the confidentiality required in all matters related to the employment, development, or discipline of Team Members.
  • Serves as the first point of contact in the HR Department by answering phone calls and providing excellent service while assisting each caller or redirecting to the proper resource.
  • Assists Vice President of Human Resources in executing essential HR functions and assisting team members with general HR inquiries such as; Leaves of Absence (LOA), FMLA, State Disability, and Unemployment Insurance Claims.
  • Exhibits a comprehensive knowledge of current California, Arizona state, and federal employment laws, time and attendance laws; remains aware of any changes in law and dates they will become effective.
  • Assists with tasks related to labor law posters and completion of State Disability Insurance (SDI) and Unemployment Insurance (UI) with VP HR's final approval.
  • Assists with monthly and weekly payroll and benefits tasks with precision and accuracy.
  • Processes, tracks, and distributes all documentation received regarding Team Members, such as certifications/competencies; Jury Duty notifications; employment files; off-work and return to work orders; service awards; and corporate attire program, etc.
  • Processes all incoming departmental mail and ensures courier bags are collected and deployed promptly.
  • Participates in Team Member onboarding and orientation, including ordering name badges and completing User ID requests for new hires.
  • Responds to Team Member employment verifications if The Work Number is unavailable for external vendors and processes information within 48 hours.
  • Assists with recruiting when requested, including but not limited to conducting phone screens and scheduling interviews.
  • Assists with extending offers of employment, including preparing and tracking offer letters electronically and finalizing the new team member onboarding process.
  • Assist AVP of Talent with recruiting, including phone interviews and talent screening.
  • Assists with projects as required by the Senior Vice President of Human Resources and other duties as assigned and deemed necessary to achieve the goals of the department and the Credit Union.

Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
