HR Professionals at the Law Offices of the Public Defender work in all phases of Human Resources. The tasks may vary from basic data processing, complex personnel issues, labor relations, payroll, drafting internal procedures, researching and implementing new hiring techniques.

The hourly rate of pay for an HR Professional typically ranges from $23.00-$29.45/hourly

Essential Functions

The Human Resource Administrator: (click for full Class Description)

The Human Resources Administrator (HR Admin) will have joint responsibilities as an HR Team member which may include working closely with Senior HR Administrators, the Deputy, and the Director of HR. Responsibilities are typically mid-level and professional-level work related to employee benefits, classification, pay, hiring, retirement, medical issues, policy, and procedure implementation.

The incumbent in this classification is in the unique position to work with more experienced HR staff and receive on-the-job training while honing their own skills and abilities.

The HR Administrator may work independently and in support of the senior HR team members to deliver solutions, accurate data, and contribute toward both short-term and long-term goals of the HR department.

The Senior Human Resources Administrator serves as a sounding board and provides advice to LOPD employees, supervisors, and managers on the appropriate interpretation and application of LOPD/HR policies, processes, and practices.

The person in this role has the ability to take ambiguous situations and provide clarity. They work with functional subject matter experts, HR team members, and LOPD leadership to complete tasks. They are also the main point of service contact for an assigned customer group's processes, related questions, and employment issues, including but not limited to HR policies, procedures, leaves of absence, corrective actions, and staffing needs involving hiring, salary offers, and position/organizational management. This role is expected to assess, prioritize and act on LOPD employee and management requests as needed and communicate needs that require additional support to the appropriate source.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or relevant field or four (4) years of experience in human resource operations; recruitment, selection, payroll, compensation and benefits administration and/or occupational analysis. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Preference may be given to multilingual applicants fluent in English and other languages.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's License.
